Philippines/Singapore Connection Issues November/December 2019

using Converge ISP out of Philippines but WinMTR implicates L3 Los Angeles as my bottlenecks. been this way for a week, but today ping is in four digit figure and lots of lag time outs

Darthvixen,

Moved you to your own thread as your issue is unrelated to the Centurylink thread. That’s an issue with communication from a specific ISP.

Looking over this test, it actually looks like most of what you’re seeing as ‘issues’ are red herrings. Oddly enough, the last hop looks fine for your area, which means that what we’re seeing on those Level 3 nodes may just be DDoS mitigation. There may be something going on with your router based on how early some of that packet loss happens, but we’ve also got a couple other reports of this from other folks in your area. I’m going to see if we can get some more tests.

If anybody in this thread is in the Philippines/Singapore area, and having connection issues, can you also post a winMTR test like Darthvixen for us? You want to play the game while running the test, and restart the test every 10-15 minutes until you catch one of these problems. Once you’ve caught one red handed, run the test for about 5 more minutes. This will let us look for problems between your house and our servers which may cause this.

If you have problems with posting it due to a link error, go ahead and copy paste this into your next post, and replace “WinMTR goes here” with your test.

in-game using TitanPanel it reports 441ms realm and 3149ms world latency.

winMTR was running for about 20 minutes prior to logging in, and it shows similar packet losses from most of the same hops as my previous post:

Hi, I’m also using Converge ICT here in the Philippines and same with Darthvixen I’ve been having latency problems for a week now. Home and / or World latency spikes to 4 digits or more especially when in Raids. At times it becomes really unplayable. Converge ICT here in the Philippines. World Latency shoots up to 1000-4000ms when inside dungeons or raids. Home latency is stable though.

Just did Terror of the Depth WQ. World Latency spiked to 800ms with only about 10 players. Got disconnected after a few minutes.

You guys think this is more of a hardware issue?

Edit: Also went into underrot dungeon and world latency spiked to 2000ms. It seems to occur every time i group up with people

it could be the way the game engine handles phasing your character to your teammates.

as of right now i am having the sort of lag where NPCs take awhile to appear and have a very noticeable delay interacting with. it’s rather annoying, but i have been on worse ISPs and just have to deal with the repair bill when lagging out in combat

You are phased on to the group leaders server.It is likely the groups leader was on a US based realm. Can you run a winMTR to the two US servers please. Just a Note if you have another ISP besides PLDT and Globe they use PLDT or Globe to get the data out of the philipines and they do throttle other ISp’s traffic.

hi , during run with guild mate on temple M+10, we have pug one NA player join us. start of run i getting latency world/home 469ms/ 220ms whole run, spell delay. the instance is Oce server, rest of my guild have no lag at all, only me.

i really only posted my results to confirm that Converge is chumping the connection, and that the nodes showing packet loss were red herring. i assumed the latency was due to the SEA games being held in proximity to where i live. last night i had minimal disconnects and only a moderate ping (300ms).
