Flagged as trolling.
Give Unholy a talent that sacrifices their ghoul - without removing the ghoul gameplay.
Essentially it would be called “Death Incarnate” and would replace Army of the Dead with a buff that lasts 30 mins or until your ghoul is summoned. While using Death Incarnate your flat stats are higher as you wear your ghoul as a suit of unliving armor causing you to pulse a damage aura and maybe a (increased physical damage debuff or a healing recieved debuff aura?_)
While Death Incarnate is Active - Dark Transformation/Infected Claws affects you directly rather then your pet.
That way you could still pull out your ghoul for clutch play and would involve less butching of the pet play with the spec which some unholy folks do enjoy.
not a bad idea. Although i think having the talent replace Sacrificial pact would be better as Army is a big CD and a lotta burst.
Giving an option to play without our minion is like giving beastmaster hunters the option to play without their pets and if it was the meta option we would all have to do it so no. Don’t ruin our spec identity because you don’t want it
You expect Blizzard to be able to balance this when they can’t even figure out how to balance Single-Minded Fury vs Titans Grip or DW vs 2-hand for Frost? Let alone differences between classes to a reasonable degree?
You’re literally asking for an entirely new spec crunched into an already existing one. How do you rectify literally more than half the talent tree? If you don’t want to play Unholy go play Frost. Before you say “I m a s k i n g f o r a n a l t e r n a t i v e”, you’re not, you’re functionally saying “I like BM but what if you took away the pets and just had all the abilities related to pets just buff your damage without adding actual meaning full interactions”. Put down the pipe kid.
So what if people dont want a pet, they need to suck it up. Unholy has a pet. I dont even know where the argument would be coming from aside from people that dont actually play the spec and would only play it if it didnt have a pet.
Not to mention that Sac pact wouldnt need to be changed at all and would just need to not require a pet. Sac has a 2 min cd, raise dead has a 30 sec cd, so every time you Sac you should be able to just raise a new pet and just have to deal with the summoning animation that puts your pet out of action for about 3 seconds.
I really dont get the argument however for petless unholy. If people are ok with all the other pets, whats wrong with the ghoul? If there are so many people that dont want it, where are they?
Honestly?
I don’t see a solid argument for petless unholy now that 2h frost is a option.
Honestly - I would like to see unholy actually shift more to a weaken/vuln gameplay that essentially makes you weaken enemies so that your pet/allies can tear them apart. I find unholy is somewhat bursty right now which kind of seems off to me…again now that Frost 2h exists.
The op is a disingenuous plug for petless unholy, and a laughable one at that. Which is why they react as they do through the threads progression.
I’d suggest the OP try frost if he didn’t like the pets, because that’s 3/4 of unholy playstyle managing pets as well as the majority of the damage profile. As you point out, one would have to know next to nothing about what unholy is or how it functions to think petless would be a good idea.
I love my pets, but you are spot on with the observation about their ai. Its awful.
/thread
Not yet, more mileage to be had here.
Since wotlk, pet damage has always been a huge part of unholy’s dps. Maybe not nº1 as it is now, but always in your top 3 dmg sources.
I think a lof of it is more of a terrain issue than a pet AI issue, but pet ai is pretty bad in a lot of games and its not great in wow either. I think thats really the only logical argument anyone could have to be anti pet in games.
I just cant really play unholy so I dont have to deal with it.
Another that didn’t read.
Yeah, not a kid.
And if you’d read the post, you’d have seen I’m not asking to remove ALL PETS from the spec, just to replace the one permanent one. Another point of your ignorance has been the repeated statement that “Go Play Frost” is an invalid solution.
As for expecting balance, reasonably I SHOULD. But the reality is that Blizzard DOESN’T.
So ideally I should say YES I should expect blizzard to be able to balance all of that. Realistically though we know that won’t happen.
And what about it is disingenuous? I am entirely up front on the premise and grounds from which I stand from.
And as I have repeated. I am fine with my little geist buddy. As for going back to Frost. Maybe when Blizzard fix it so I am not useless outside my burst window.
I am left wondering if any of you understand what fun is.
As that was what this was meant to be. I am not asking for a petless unholy. Just tossing out the idea of a petless unholy.
As a fun little thought experiment or hypothetical theorycraft.
I did read. You are just a selfish player that wants to fundamentally change the core of our spec because you don’t like it. If you make the abomination optional through talents then whichever talent sims higher we would be stuck with so either you would be unhappy because you would be stuck playing unholy properly or all of the unholy players would be mad they are stuck playing your discount arms warrior trash idea
I have a brilliant idea…
Play Frost.
A thought experiement… the spec would have to be fundamentally changed to put power somewhere else for petless to actually work. If you look at any other spec that has multiple pets the actual class doesnt have that much damage to it or that much really going on. Take away the pet and you basically just have build wounds pop wounds. Except in your case for some reason you are still keeping army and apoc and the point of “petless” would be to not have any of these things so you dont have to mess with them. So if you are still going to have an army of other pets what the hell is wrong with the permanant one?
People also have different ideas of what fun is because fun is subjective. Some think making your class however you want to is fun, others playing the class at its fullest potential is fun, you cant have all options be the best option so expecting balance within the same spec but different playstyles should not happen. All you have to do is look at frost to see the reality of balance.
Yeah we’re saying its bad theorycrafting lmao
This post is still going?
The gang is all here man
