Nice to hear we agree on making it more melee! What if we make pets an option? And still have balancing, competive dmg with or without.

While I personally like Survival because they fight in melee together with their pet, I’m all for options and player choice whenever possible. However, they already tried making pets optional with MM and are now abandoning that design for balancing and other reasons so I doubt they’ll introduce basically the same concept to Survival.

Yeah, I must be missing something. Don’t summon your pet or get rid of them; use your bow/range skills Can’t you do that?

This is by far one of the most brain-dead decisions made by Blizzard in WoW’s 20 year history. First Aimed Shot, Wailing Arrow and Serpent Sting all being merged into one ugly abomination of a spell, now this. Whoever is in charge of Hunter design needs to be fired yesterday. Major yikes all around

To all the Einsteins supporting this: just don’t summon your pet. It’s that easy boys. Boom, there you have your petless hunter. Let the rest of MM players play the spec how they want to

MM, a spec I do very much enjoy, always had that issue to me. I didn’t usually play pet specs over most of wows existance. I found I would spend far too much time in pvp resurrecting, ressummoning, healing, directing this pet I really only had out for the weak 10% MS effect and other bits of utility I’d rather have access to without the pet. Having that pet utility fail to function due to a pathing issue, los, CC, or death if I really wasn’t paying attention to the pet didn’t provide feels good gameplay to me. Petless MM while maintaining the utility AND having MS and Bloodlust be buffed is a dream come true.

Imagine if a paladin couldn’t cast Blessing of Freedom if their squire had wandered off or got CCed, or a Warrior was unable to cast MS because some external entity strayed too far away or was CCed, it is annoying.

I hope they add melee options to MM. More options the better imo. Let us play how we want to

Markman and survival have traditionally abandoned the pets with lone wolf, I don’t want to have to rely on faulty warcraft 3 legacy AI programming anymore to play, I don’t want the coming changes to Marksman at all, it ruins the entire design of the class fantasy.

Sorry, been a while since i used these forums.

uh what are you talking about willis

when lone wolf was added i when petless with both marks and surv since the pets have always been a hinderance due to poor pet AI.

sv hasn’t been petless for a decade idk if someone could say SV “traditionally” abandons pets

I’m talking before legion ruined the spec.

Lone wolf was only a talent option for the last 10 years. For the 10 years before that, it was not a thing at all. There is no tradition of going petless for Surv and MM.

it’s time to let go. we did not need mm and mm with dots

This is purely for clarification. It’s not an opinion post.

MM and ranged SV both had the talent of Lone Wolf in WOD, on the final talent row.

IIRC, it was a 10% DPS increase and the Hunter had special buffs granting the pet’s ability (e.g., the wolf’s critical chance buff) to make up for the missing pet utility.

Then Blizzard removed ranged SV to make way for melee SV in Legion.

So ranged SV had Lone Wolf for one expansion.
