It kinda sucks. I just got kicked from my heroic grind for calling out a warlock needing on spirit gear the healer (disc) and I (spriest) actually needed, and got kicked. Honestly partially on me, should have noticed they were part of a 3 stack of guildies, but like, that’s kinda evil. And now I can’t reque for half an hour because a guild decided their lock’s ilvl was more important than having gear they can actually use.
The point of dungeon deserter is to punish people who leave early anyways, not people who get annoyed when their gear gets ninja-ed. Pls fix.

I agree the penalty for being kicked should be far less or different.
Myself have been kicked for such silly reasons like yesterday where I joined it heal as MW but was in combat as soon as I ported in so I couldn’t swap specs. Instead of leaving combat long enough so that I could swap specs they kicked.

Then maybe you should stop doing whatever it is that’s getting you kicked.

Then maybe you should read the post you’re responding to

The debuff is to keep you from potentially rejoining the group you were just booted from.
If you are kicked it should only be a 5-10 min debuff
If you leave early it can stay at 30 min

As much as I’d love for this to happen, I’m going to say no.
I got kicked from Heroic Jade Temple yesterday after downing first boss because I suddenly got disconnected and missed the timing to run into the Library wing and they started the event and I still got the debuff.
It’s there to stop tanks and healers from holding the group hostage if things don’t go their way by refusing to do anything unless they get kicked.
They used to do that a lot back in the old days when there wasn’t a debuff for being kicked from groups after a boss has been downed.

The thing is, this doesn’t make sense at the beginning of each xpac when dungeons are being spammed. Tank and healers WILL be instantly put into the dungeon, and you WILL get a tank/healer that will finish that dungeon. Why? Justice and valor, plus chance to get gear.
I’m so tired of this excuse of “holding groups hostage” or people saying “must be your fault if you got kicked” or “it’s well within the group’s rights to kick you for ANY reason including your race, transmog or spec”

Blizzard keeps making stupid decisions in order to try force people to be as nice and snuggly as possible.
But even if you don’t like the excuse, it is a valid excuse.
And depending on your realm, your faction might be the minority and you might not have as many tanks/healers to choose from.
If you get the wrong player in your group, they will sabotage your group if things don’t go their way.
And you will get angry, and you will berate them.
And you will feel stressed, especially if it’s something you want to do.
That is just the way things are in this day and age, and nothing will change.
Maybe someday you’ll learn it’s not about the group that has to kick the person holding them hostage, it’s about punishing those people so that they can’t go on to hold more groups hostage

The problem is that the system is punishing the wrong people, repeatedly. There must be a better solution.

It takes 3 people to troll 1 person with deserter. It only takes 1 to troll everyone without it
You don’t have to like it, but the fact remains that deserter was implemented this way after its original iteration for a reason

That reason being so it could be exploited by mythic + players who don’t know what to do with their time before the next season
30 min. deserter debuff was a player caused issue, not a Blizzard one. It’s not their fault that some folks in the community are d bag super ween-urz.
Let me guess, the kicker group was from Benediction

Honestly the best solution would be to make it compounding per week
1st kick, 5 min. Second kick 10, 15,20,25, 30.
Reduces per weekly reset by 50% rounding down. So if you are at 15 min, it goes back to 5. If you are at 30 minutes it will start at 15 for the next week.
The soultion is make a system that limits your ability to initiate kicking people, if you making kicks too often. For example, if you initiated more then 15 kicks in last 100 dungeons, your ability to initiate kicks will be suspended for next 7 days or next 50 dungeons (if premaid group initiated kick - then it counts to everyone who was in this group). Yes, you sometimes can get bad people to your group, who ruin the run and deserved to be kicked. But, if you are doing kicks too often, the problem not other people, the problem is you. Because statistically, real griefers get to the runs much less often then 15 times in 100 runs.

there isn’t. there is no way to make a system that understands why people are being kicked and whether it is a “legitimate” kick or not
Best solution, simple and effective. Repeatedly kicking people, whether some of the kicks are legitimate to the kicker, is ruining the LFG feature. If you are using LFG, you cannot simply say I don’t want to group with certain people. You know the risk of grouping with people you dislike if you use LFG, and go make your own group if you only want to group with certain people, as some people who love kicking people have retorted.
Just have to queue with a 3 man pre made and use the system to your advantage. Just Kick anyone that would roll on gear you need. The person that got kicked probably needed a 30 minute break from the game anyways.
Yeah dude it was totally implemented specifically for M+ players to abuse, several expansions before M+ was even a concept
