Petition To Reassign PVP Designers at Blizzard

Let’s be real here. WoW arena and wow pvp has been in a terrible, life-support state since TBC/WOTLK. It’s steadily fallen in engagement and has been losing reputation and engagement for years. It’s basically considered a joke for most people that play World of Warcraft.

We need a completely new vision and design. It’s totally unacceptable that TBC/WOTLK had a more preferable system for a larger amount of players than currently, when you consider the reward system, the ease of getting honor gear and upgrades, and the simplicity of it.

My petition is simple, since PVP has been in a terrible state for the last several expansions, it’s time to ask for a reorganization of the PVP designers at Blizzard.

Solo Shuffle Problem: Solo shuffle queues take 25-30 minutes once you get a certain rating and/or play at a certain time. This is totally unacceptable and makes this mode a non-feature for a large majority of players, who simply cant sit in queue for hours.

Other than that there is no normalizing. Why are ench shamans stuck at 2200 rating, while dh are 3200 rating? why are fire mages 500 below arcane mages on average? Shouldnt this system by normalized for your class? it’s very poorly implemented, and promotes FOTM classes. This makes some classes like ench shaman/tanks unplayable.

Arena 2s, 3s: No healers. Difficult to find matchmaking. The way to find people is to sit in LFG and spam the apply button, but for every 6 teams looking for a healer, there is only one healer available. This is terrible and means the majority of teams can never pvp because there is a lack of supply of healers. PvP Designers should see this as critical as, this makes pvp unplayable for large majority of dps/tanks players.

BGS/EBGS: The queues are way too long and the actual battles are not rewarding at all. you get 70 conquest 400 honor for basically afking a bg? This isnt a good reward or incentive. Start rewarding conquest or something for kills, maybe give awards for top few dps/healers to boost participation. Or, simply add more interesting rewards that arent 40 ilvls below PVE gear, that would help boost participation in pvp.

Basically, I am stating that the pvp designers have failed for the last few expansions and should be replaced by fresh eyes, either within the company, or from another competitive game, like Dota, Valorant, Starcraft 2, etc. This is that dire, we have a system on life-support.

If you agree that the PvP designers should be replaced, then simply reply in this thread. Because in the age of social media, this is the power we possess.

Thank you.

How do we know they haven’t already done this? Is there somewhere we can check “Oh ok bob’s designing rogues and ferals since legion.”?

Here’s the only posting I could find.

Be the change you wanna see? New maps lol.

If elected, I promise to create a dynamic day/night and weather system for all bgs.

Like arathi blizzard? Well say hello to warsong tornado, arathi drought, global warming gilneas (under water), and many more!

Cata and mop both had healthier pvp than those 2. (Last 2 seasons of MoP at least)

Have you played TBC or wrath bro

TBC arena was the most garbage the game has ever been and it’s not even close.

Wrath made huge improvements and there are a lot of great things about it but it was still bad.

The game has always always always felt the way it feels now.

When the core design of your product revolves around removing the ability for players to play their character it’s always just going to be a generally miserable experience

WoW arena is unique in it’s strategy elements and and how well you rotate as a team but ultimately it’s been the same trash the entirety of it’s life span.

All they have to do is hire some pvp streamers as contract workers under “consultants”

Would be a lot cheaper and those guys pretty much live for wow pvp and will easily catch obvious op for pvp changes like the arms one and re-adjust their abilities in pvp back down.

This is completely and blatantly false. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed recently, but the way Caster teams choose to oppress Melee teams has drastically changed. They no longer use the triangle of death, they now basically do a Kotmogu style backpedal around the edge of the arena so the other team has to put themselves in the pain zone to CC a healer

1st step in making pvp better, is to make players feel they are getting a fair game, start perma banning all RMT boosters and 6 month ban players that participate, 2nd offense is perma ban. Start cleaning up wow.

2nd, make the game based on fun, not what the 1% of players on the ladder think.

3d, no more boring little arena maps, use parts of raids/dungeons fenced off, with pitfalls and deadly traps to do rated pvp.

The vast majority of nerfs that happen in wow aren’t because of the top 1% but, rather, the median range just not learning how to adapt/counter.

They dont want to put in effort to play properly and why would they when they can complain until it gets nerfed?

I fully agree with the need for a complete overhaul of the WoW PvP system. The long wait times and the lack of reward for participating in battles are definitely a major hindrance to player engagement. However, I would like to propose a novel solution to these issues that might bring new life to WoW PvP - the introduction of Protection Paladins as a transferable class.

First of all, protection paladins are capable of filling both tank and healer roles, which would significantly reduce the long wait times for solo shuffle queues. By offering the option to play a versatile class, more players would be inclined to participate in PvP, leading to quicker queue times and a healthier player population.

Another problem mentioned in the post is the lack of balance across classes. This would be addressed by offering a sub-spec for each spec in the game, such as shadow protection paladins and frost protection paladins. This would allow for a greater level of customization and enable players to choose the playstyle that suits them best, leading to a more balanced and fair PvP experience for all.

Lastly, I would like to stress that having a dedicated designer for protection paladins would ensure that the class is properly balanced and designed for PvP. With a singular focus on this one class, the designer would be able to make adjustments and changes that would optimize the class for PvP, making it the go-to choice for players looking to participate in PvP battles.

In conclusion, I believe that introducing protection paladins as a transferable class with sub-specs for each spec in the game would provide a much-needed shakeup to the WoW PvP system. Not only would it reduce wait times and balance the playing field, but it would also provide players with a new and exciting way to participate in PvP battles.

Stopped reading after first line, BC/WOTLK PvP was godawful and some of the worst PvP balance in the game. You are smoking something.

Bruh this is always how wizards have played. Good ones at least. If you were Q’ing in to wizards who were standing on / near pillars they were dog**** at the game.

Position is something you have to actually think about when you play wizards. Melee have the front loaded W key, wizards have ‘if you want to play you’re gonna lose’ advantage of position.

We already had an arena map with this one before, fires the spawned, raising/lowering pillars. It was the single most hated arena map to ever be implemented and was removed because of it.

A caster getting on top of one of the pillars to free cast for a prolonged period of time, or a rogue stunning you and then the fire randomly choosing then to spawn made games end far more on luck that anything else.

“If i can see the opposing team and my own healer in the same 135° angle, we’re out of position and we should cast a fear or something” -Casters :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

But do we really want to base the game design off of a very small portion of players that usually repeatedly hit r1?

I can just imagine it now: "Xaryu, as design consultant for mages has elected to re-introduce deep freeze to the class, but also has added a stun and a disarm because “they’re the only class without a stun.”… “More at 11.”

You can have a disdain for wizards, they are miserable to play against.

But if you think melee requires more of a brain idk what to say.

edit: nvm you have xp on 3 (melee) specs and have no context what it’s like to play anything that isn’t a cleave. Cultivate experience in something before you presume to talk about it man.

Well, who better to give pvp advice to blizz than the people who pvp for 12hrs a day? Who are more qualified than them?

You think it isn’t hard to hit bloodthirst and rampage while remembering to hold my “W” key?? I only have so many braincells, ya know!

I’d say they require relatively the same amount of brain power but that brain power gets used differently.

Ranged comps always have the positioning advantage from the simple nature that they’re ranged.
