Hey Support –
A few minutes before the “sale” went up, I purchased one of the now on-sale mounts as a gift for my kid.
Since the game hasn’t opened up yet, can I get either a refund for the amount of the sale, or a credit to use for another item in this sale?
The blizzard policy says:
We’ll refund most items that you buy with real money and receive in-game within 14 days of purchase, as long as you have not claimed, opened, or otherwise used the item.
Examples include:
- World of Warcraft Shop Items and Bundles (Pets, Mounts, and Cosmetics)
- World of Warcraft Character and Guild Services
- World of Warcraft Tokens
- StarCraft II Commanders and Mission Packs
- Heroes of the Storm Boosts
But the support site will not allow a refund request for returns. So I clearly need a person and not the automated system that has been programmed contrary to Blizzard’s written policy.
usually , you have 2 hours after a purchase for a refund. In cases like this, most games, I play in will usually give you a grace period of one -two weeks for something like this. DDO, Anarchy Online (Funcom), DCU, StarTrek Online and Neverwinter, I think , all have done that, I am almost certain, Blizz had done it for me, also. I am cheap, cheap because I am disabled and broke, so I always jump on things like this.
You are outside of 1-2 weeks, so I doubt they will, but turn in a ticket and ask, all they can say is no.

What do yo mean I"m outside of 2 weeks?
I purchased the damn thing during TODAY’s maintenance window and the game isn’t even back up yet
I got ya, yeah they should do it.
For some reason, I was thinking , (I need my coffee) you were talking about before the expac launched(game opened), what have ya.
So dodge around and get a GM, they should honor it. Let us know if they do not. That would be dirty of them and people need to know advocate for you and fellow customers.

I’ve definitely needed coffee before.
My issue is I can’t even request the refund because the support site won’t allow such requests – even though their policy explicitly says they do.
Are you getting an error trying to use the automated refund or is it simply denying the refund?
If it’s an error, it may be a browser issue. If it’s denying your refund, open a ticket under PAYMENTS. If the game becomes available prior to your ticket being answered, please advise your son not to open the mail or use the item.

It simply denies the refund.
That said, Blizzard handled it in the game just fine.
However, their automated not-in-game tools function in direct contradiction to their stated policies.
No, the automated system is just that. Automated. It’s not designed to understand nuance. This is why if the automated refund system denies it, you click the “I Still Need Help” button and open a ticket.
Everything happened 100% as intended.

I DID THAT and could not open a ticket because I could not phrase “refund” without using a term that the system decided meant a ticket should not be opened.
Again, in a game, they handled it correctly. But their tools directly contradict their policy.
It is not merely that the tool doesn’t take the ticket (though that’s irritating enough); the tool says that such refunds are not allowed . . . when the policy clearly states they are.
Great. What’s the issue we can help you with?
If you want to suggest a change to the Support system, you need to post in General. The people who make these decisions do not take feedback from the Support forums, such as this one.
