Pet dies constantly in Torghast

It is impossible to beat the last boss solo in level 3 Torghast because my pet dies super easy. I hit mend pet every opportunity and burn my Exileration. Pet dies. I use turtle to res it. Now my cool downs are gone. It gets killed again. Game over. Every time. This is ridiculous. I cleared the rest of it no problem. Either pets have to be made tougher or we need faster res time. It’s very frustrating.

the bm pets do suddenly get squishy at 57, far so then they were in beta. even the clefthoof.

but in beta there were some fights that were rough for my bm in torghast.

In Torghast you might…might be able to survive a 2 sec res on the last boss but 4 sec is impossible once you have already used turtle.

I went back with a group and ran level 3. I had to res my pet a million times with regular mobs. Killed my damage numbers and was just annoying as hell. I don’t understand the logic in clobbering a popular class with so many dumb nerfs.

It’s not impossible, I just did it, as MM with a pet tank.

For the first rez, Disengage and cheetah across the room, you can get the rez before the boss is in range. For the second rez use Turtle. If you need a third rez you aren’t doing enough damage.

I did it pretty easily back when I was only 140 ilvl. Pulled big packs pretty often too, without getting any particularly op anima powers either. Nothing could kill my pet. You’re doing something wrong.

The most important thing to change is to stop using Animal Companion. That talent is trash for soloing content. It splits your pet’s dps but only one of the pets tanks, which reduces your healing from leech by a massive amount.

Also, use a Clefthoof because they’re the best tanking pet. It receives 20% more healing from all sources. This includes Mend Pet and leech.

Aside from that, you already seem to be using Aspect of the Beast. The rest is just to do damage properly. Anima powers that increase pet damage will also improve its survivability through leech. Powers that increase your own dps (like Soulforge Embers) don’t help your pet tank more.

Torghast can be tough on that last boss, but it’s totally doable. Cleared both my level 3s in one shot.

Entirely depends on Anima RNG. You can get lucky and stack massive damage boosts right out of the gate, smoking the entirety of level 3 like it’s level 1. Or you could go 3 floors without seeing a single decent offensive power, in which case it’s going to be an absolute slog.

Either bail out early and restart if you’re getting exceptionally poor anima powers, or bring a friend, since it’s highly unlikely that you’ll both have terrible luck.

I’m not so sure this even works.

I got the choice between exploding mawrats and snare on Soulshape flicker as my starting choices 4 runs in a row. I was restarting because I wanted to get literally any offensive power out the gate, ideally Aimed Shot damage but I would have taken anything.

On the one hand I think resetting until you get the right powers on the first floor would really suck and detract from the experience significantly, but on the other RNG is RNG and sometimes it just sucks - having your Soul Ash progression for the week halted due to bad RNG is not great.

Weirdly half hunters are having issues. Most using cleft hoof or lucky anima runs are having it easy. I had super easy runs then super bad runs I’ve seen my pet die through multi healing mend pet with spirit beast heal on top. And I’ve seen multiple runs where I had no issue depending which boss you run into. Pets are definitely squishy. Especially in pvp. Thorgast level 3 boss is only bad pve I’ve seen. But it’s dumb we are forced into cleft hoof. Pets shouldn’t be dying if we’re actively healing them. Blizz should be giving us more utility for all pets to survive. If cleft hoof received 20% more healing and is the right tankiness then all pets should have that baseline. Why force us into 1 single pve pet. Especially when it’s other utility does not save or help us in pvp

Are you talking about the Upper Reach? You can also abuse the LoS from the platform to drop down and res your pet. I did this as MM.

I haven’t tried this as a hunter yet, but aren’t the Torghast bosses able to be CCed? I don’t remember running into any that were immune on my DK.

Would a freezing trap work to safely rez? Sounds like a pain to have the pet repeatedly die, ngl. Though this could make all the difference I’m thinking!

I did it last night as a BM hunter. Used my Spirit Beast and spammed heals on the pet. Exhilaration will come in handy during this fight too, especially with the power that reduces it’s CD time.

My Spirit Beast did die when boss was at 25%. I put up Turtle Aspect, rezzed, and hit Misdirection to get the boss back on the pet instead of me. Boss took a HUGE chunk out of me here, but I’d bought some of those potions from the anima vendor because I’d anticipated a pet death.

It’s doable, but not a cakewalk like the earlier levels. Also what Anima Buffs get picked are very important.

If you can land the buffs that reduce damage taken on misdirect target, and the 25% dmg reduction on trap effect your pet becomes unkillable.

It is not easy for sure. Make sure you get as many powers as you can in the previous tiers. Use the leech/hero pet. Pre pot + hero in pull, and like many above said it is important that you take advantage of the anima Powers (I.e. tar trap/flare, apply hunters mark, misdirect, mend pet , and keep those things rolling. Don’t blow your exhil too early. Just keep working at it you will get it. Good luck!

I believe this is true, can tar trap/disengage to buy time for a res as well I believe

You can trap the boss too. I revided my pet like 5 times lol

Did both layer3’s fairly easily with Corehound. Cleared everything for as many powers and as much currency (phantasma?) as I could get.

Just about bought out the vendors on floors 3&6.

All my powers were selected around the question, “Will this help on the last boss?”. Upper reaches RNG wasn’t as good. Several times no available power was a help, but it still worked out in the end.

Overall even on open world I find after I reach lvl 55 my pets seems to get weaker when questing like 2 mobs and it felt like it’s hp went down to 60%? I switch to MM and it seems even worse with a cat since it can’t hold aggro…… might try SV and see

I haven’t had any issues with bosses so far. I’m BM and use a clefthoof. As long as I keep the heal up it hasn’t been an issue.

bosses can be snared and rooted afaik , so tar trap , and binding shot works add turtle and u can revive your pet all the time .
