I’ve said this before, but it’s funny that the people calling guild masters greedy and selfish are the same people that keep loot for transmog instead of trading it to someone in their group who needs for an upgrade.
They should add a separate grouping functionality, call it troop or company or aresnal … platoon … w.e … and make it clearly visible in group finders and when joining. “You are joining a platoon”
this new grouping functionality would always be Personal Loot. You can’t change it. and raids would always be ML … or vice versa …
I think you are making this issue of new recruits leaving, seem like it’s more chronic than it really is. I’ve played this game for 15 years, across several guilds, across several servers and although I have seen that very thing happen, it’s more of an anomaly than something that happens so often that I need to come to the forums about it.
I think you are inflating the issue because you are already on one side of the isle. Your complaint sounds more like an agenda than a real problem. Do I think some people left your guild after getting theirs? Sure. Do i think you took that event and made it much worse than it is to try to “prove” your point. Yeah, i kinda do.
Fact is, personal loot is the best system because it kills loot drama that ALWAYS happens in guilds. ALWAYS. It places the blame solely at Blizzards feet when you arent getting loot. And here’s the thing, if someone already has an item you need, THEN you can roll for it, or loot council it or whatever. But personal loot is just plain better for the health of the game and guilds overall.
Nice try, but I keep my bags full so I can check quickly and I have a portable mailbox if I have something I don’t need and someone else does I’ll gladly give it to them.
But it is unfair to several members of a guild, the most veteran, that someone new, with less than a week in the guild, wins the items arbitrarily.
One as an officer wants to reward the player who performs best.
Those who arrive on time. Those who stay longer than necessary to learn certain mechanics.
Without any kind of control or limit then the effort cannot be rewarded.
Many times the people under PL are the least greedy people out there. They pass on anything they can’t use, and sometimes the stuff they can use.
There is NOTHING greedy about wanting to be the one in charge of what you can and can not have. There is NOTHING greedy about wanting to remain the one in charge of your own loot.
There is something greedy about asking for a tool that will force others into a bad position where they have to willing hand over loot to a party who they like but may not be responsible or leave.
Did you ever think that maybe those people are leaving because they don’t like the people in your raid group? I’m not being mean, but some people just don’t mesh well. That’s why you have trials.
It’s also possible that your jaded mistrust of trial members is showing through without you realizing it. It’s not uncommon for a trial member to do poorly out of being nervous. Maybe he feels like he let you down, or that you guys aren’t being supportive or not, or who knows what’s going through his head. If he just wanted to take loot and run, wouldn’t he just join a pug group?
