I’ve had the spinning green wheel for about a week - the patch messed a lot of things up, including my UI and graphics settings. I may reinstall to see if it’ll fix some of those problems. The game has been moving super slow and chunky and I’ve had to turn down all my resolution settings.
However, I got rid of the spinning wheel this morning by just uninstalling beta. No reinstall or anything of wow, just uninstalled beta. I don’t have the spinning wheel any more and my performance has improved.
Still not as good as before the patch however. But at least it is playable now.
I’m having the issue and never had the beta installed.
Decided to do the reinstall. Backed up my WTF file on my thumb drive. Wiped all wow files and game. Did another re installment of everything. Icon is now gone, Great!! However went to copy my WTF file from thumb drive to my wow fielder and it is gone from my thumb drive:tired_face: why blizzard. This is a terrible snowball effect. Years of tweaking my UI for self perfection, just gone. Tried a recovery software program and they want like $80. Guess I am rebuilding all 18 of my toons UI back up. Sucks…
I’ve been having the same issue for the last week. Thought it would go by itself but it doesn’t seem like it.
I don’t feel like reinstalling my game as I can see from the replies it doesn’t seem to affect anyone. I suppose this is an issue on server side.
If a Blizzard Tech Support requires any more information to help troubleshoot this issue, please let us know. We haven’t seen much response in a few days related to this issue and I can see this is affecting many other users.
I suspect that there won’t be much attention put on that matter until tomorrow since it “might” be pre-patch day tomorrow and the problem would “solve itself” possibly?

Been having the wheel show up for the last week without any major impact on the game, but today when I hopped on I noticed a pretty big dip in FPS. Have a brand new machine, was running fine yesterday, but today I’m about 40-50 FPS under what I was hitting comfortably last night. Are these related?
Very similar issue to you – and, can confirm the green circle to be the root problem to the dip in FPS.
Even on a great rig, with all other games running capped (144 FPS across most titles) FPS, WoW consistently is delivering 60-70 FPS while the green circle spins.
A bit disheartening. Ran a scan/repair, did not seem to help.
Yep I have the same issue too. Whenever it appears my computer would just freeze and I need to alt F4 to restart. Really bad when I am tanking in dungeons. Happens every 10-15 mins.
Just adding that I too am dealing with the little green loading circle constantly in the middle of the screen.
Just adding as well. Same issue for the past several days.
Same issue as well, has been there for at least a week. Has been causing me some lag.
Yep its like parts of the game arent installed anymore, like even opening maps sometimes takes a second or two to show the map now as if its image needed to be downloaded

Hey guys - just a heads up that I submitted a ticket and a GM wrote back to me saying they’re working on a fix right now for the wheel issue. Any subsequent FPS issue might be resolved by following some steps, like resetting your driver (I rolled mine back from the recent update AND had to reset the settings), or flagging the WTF, Cache, and Interface folders as Old.
Would recommend if you have any severe game issues beyond slow loading reaching out with a ticket - I had quick and very thorough customer service to resolve the more immediate issues!
I’ve been having the same issue myself. I tried completely uninstalling wow and the data folder, and it worked with no issue for a few days. Unfortunately, it started acting up again. I’m at a loss, so hopefully, it gets fixed when the prepatch drops.
something i had noticed is that the data folder size goes from 79 gb t 82gb and then goes back to 79gb it seems all the zones I use recently get deleted

well i did what some ppl said re-install wow from scrath (interface/wtf backup) didn’t download pre-patch and it’s fixed im going to wait till one day or two before pre-patch to download i really hope blizzard fix this otherwise gg
Yeah I just did the same tonight. I wasn’t getting much lag issues until Sunday night and Monday afternoon it was unplayable. Kept getting disconnected, massive lag. All fixed now without the pre-patch downloaded.
Reset day, still have background download problem

Yup, feelsbad
edit: is our only recourse uninstalling + backingup our interface/WTF folders?
Any ETA on the QA fix? Would rather avoid a 100gb DL for the month
So a week of laggy nonsense and still no fix in sight. I assume we are just going to wait for the pre-patch to fix it? Otherwise I will be attempting to completely reinstall the game to fix it myself.
edit: Disabling automatic updates and reinstalling seems to have resolved the issue. Thank you to the other posters here for confirming that fix.
