Same issue here, sent email with logs as requested.
EDIT: Not sure if this is helpful but it seems like maybe the game is trying to download assets I should already have locally. It tries to download stuff every time I hit a loading screen. I’ve also noticed some strange issues with for example the map UI, where the map texture is missing for several seconds whenever I first open it after launching the game, for each different map I try to view. This is all done on a completely new machine with a pristine SSD and everything was working 100% perfectly until the maintenance this week when the issue described in this thread started occurring.
I’ve had this issue as well since servers were back up after maintenance on Tuesday. I’m not sure if its effecting my game play much, but it is definitely annoying. I was excited though because I thought it might be pre patch downloads. After reading this forum though, I don’t think it is. I went ahead and used the tool and send the logs as well. Hope it helps.
I was going to try deleting the data folder after seeing your post but realised that’s basically re-downloading all of WoW again which was a temporary (1 day) fix for me. Really hoping you have better luck!
Tuesday I completely deleted everything WoW / Blizzard and reinstalled to fix this. Yesterday it looked like it worked but I wasn’t really playing much, just putting add ons / settings back and walking some of my characters around to see if the spinner or lag returned. Looked fine till this morning when both the download spinner and extreme start-stop lagginess returned.
Still happening for me as well after about a day away. I should also mention as I don’t think I did in my original response that I have also tried the scan and repair. Still no dice.
Deleting the data file and redownloading it seemed to have worked for now…prob not play till they fix it though seeing how some of you said it came back…man this sucks…
Same deal for me, started this afternoon. First noticed that world maps weren’t loading instantly as they normally do, and then they pop in suddenly. Now the green wheel keeps showing randomly. Launcher says I’m up-to-date.
Could it be a store update? I see all the store menu has been changed, and all the stuff I’ve purchased no longer has green checkmarks on them.
Seems send us your logs (that likely can’t be sent through consumer email services due to size restrictions) really means “It’s probably your fault. We don’t give a darn.” People reporting this since maintenance day, a request for logs from support and then silence after a number of people indicate they cannot.
Thanks for all of the logs that were able to be successfully submitted. We have forwarded them to our WoW QA team and they have informed us that they have enough to work with. No more logs are needed at this time.
I am getting green circle and yellow, downloading important game data. game freezes randomly as I fly around Org. this is such crap, roll back the damn patch.
Hello! I am having this issue as well. I see that no more logs are needed, but I wanted to add some additional info that I didn’t see after a quick skim of this thread. It’s possible I missed it if someone else did mention it, but in any case, I play WoW in both macOS and Windows. I only see this issue when booted into macOS (10.15.6), but not in Windows (Windows 10 Pro with latest updates). I’m not sure if that makes a difference. I also use exactly the same add-ons in both Mac and Windows, so I don’t think that’s what’s causing it.
Hoping this gets fixed soon, but after spending the past week-ish thinking I was the only one with this problem, I’m at least glad to see that I’m not.
Also having this issue, started yesterday on both retail and beta clients. tried repair, game downloaded about 150mb of data, problem persists. Very annoying.
