Performance enhancing drugs for gaming

I swear to god this is not a troll post. Many hardcore players now use psycho-stimulants, Like Adderall, ADHD Medication, THC so some extent etc. There is evidence that 50% of league of legends pro teams use medicated stimulants for those quick insane reactions.

Always wondered what playing on adderall would be like but when I took it I ended up taking a nap. Now I just pop a blue chew and get in voice with the boys.

This is like saying we should ban post-nut clarity because they have an edge in solos

Yeah this is true. Don’t think there’s a solution worth the cost of implementing, but I agree it would be better if everyone magically chose not to use those substances.

See I used to never take my meds before gaming and one day I decided to do so and now I can’t even play a round of 2’s without it seems like

Speaking of this brb

Ok true story but I used to take this stuff. Was able to get prescribed adderall many years ago and my ratings jumped a ton. It helps you focus on many different things without feeling overwhelmed. I stopped taking it and had the worst withdrawals and ended up with a full body hives breakout in the ER. Very potent on a small dose even

I find I play better on the opposite end of all of that. Tried doing the caffeine/stimulants thing in college and it just made me jittery and overly anxious while playing. Can’t imagine doing that often and not having it have some serious impact on your life.

I think we’re taught that if we try really hard at something we can do it. But there’s a reality that high performance can come down to genetics or taking drugs.

Seeing my preferred thing not mentioned :dracthyr_tea:

Maybe in other games

Wow is just awareness and game knowledge

I’m trying to not go off tangent because I feel like I was also lied to in other areas of my life but I think in wow people will do whatever it takes to gain an advantage. Maybe not in today’s wow because things have changed and I’d say the PvP scene isn’t as intense

First time hearing someone refer to THC as a performance enhancing drug lol

I admittedly am usually caffeinated when I game. That is a psychostimulant too that can be argued as being a performance enhancing drug. Sometimes I am playing under the influence of alcohol, which is in my case a performance decreasing drug.

I’ve never taken Adderall, but I honestly can’t imagine that there is a strong correlation between taking Adderall and necessarily performing better at video games (or anything for that matter). The person (or team) still has to be more skilled than the other person (or team) to win.

That is just my take, but again, I haven’t taken Adderall so I could certainly be mistaken.

Either way, if it isn’t against the rules, then can’t fault anyone for taking legally prescribed medication and then playing a video game afterwards (imo).

Also,

do you have any actual evidence to support this (e.g., a source other than you saying that this is the case)?

That is quite a bold claim

You ever not drink your caffeine for the day and start to get withdrawals?
