I guess this depends on whether or not you view trillions of dollars in national debt to be a good economy. As well as thousands of dollars for a month’s supply of insulin being reasonable. Maybe you aren’t from America?
I never said a week.
We will be in the last patch by the time BoA Essences are implemented. Also crucible was implemented with the last patch of Legion iirc, so not a lot you can do there. They’ve already admitted to azerite being a mistake and essences being a bad bandaid fix. They need to go the extra step and either remove them or make them BoA.
Sure and you should go watch some paint dry, sounds like the ideal time gated content with long term commitment for you. Ironic that you tell people to go play MOBAs when WoW classes are just as shallow if not more so now.
No thanks. I’d rather have classes that keep my interest instead of being forced to play them because of some sunk cost fallacy.
This was the case pre-essences. That’s just it is people stopped playing their alts en masse because of how dumb the essence grind was just to feel viable in end game content.
Tired of people defending the time gated crap
I mourn for our guild weekly alt mythic raid.
Everyone just flat out gave up doing that twice, it’s not worth the pay off. Even the alts in the alt runs were scuffed, but nowhere near how scuffed theyd be w/o level 3 essences.
that’s just it. people don’t see this because they’ve either been getting cutting edge every tier, or they’re casual and don’t care about what the in between crowd has to deal with.
those getting cutting edge every tier have a different ability to get into groups than the average joe. beyond that even… they don’t have to deal with the people who don’t pull their own weight like the average joe has to. they don’t see this and then tell others the essences are ‘just fine’ because they are oblivious to the consequences of it on the community.
Well said, I agree with you.
Why? Can you explain?
Who cares about Essences anyway.
No, nobody can explain the reasoning why second, third or fourth characters need to feel bad to play.
It’s silly and driving people away from playing at all.
What’s the better choice:
- Hold a headstrong stance against alts so people dont bother
- Make it easier so more people… play alts…
where do you get that unrelenting optimism from and can i have some of it?
Optimism is the key!
I just try to understand the decision they make:
Examples:
Time gating
People used to complete stuff super fast in previous expansions and whine about not having things to do. You dont hear that anymore.
Pathfinder
In previous expansion, there used to be a rush to max level to buy flying. It was a part of the previous problem but also a way for bots to farm mats. There is still bots, but they are having a hard time and cant flood the market so easily.
Gear
Removal of tier set bonus is to expand the source of loot. No more raid or die. You get the gear the way you want. Blizzard is not restricted to one type of activity.
Etc.
Each time Blizzard is doing something, it’s for a reason.
There must be a reason why Blizzard is not allowing a character to equip BiS essences and gear with a fresh level 120. Maybe it’s the same reason why rep is not account bound.
Yes, because everyone just quits instead of levels alts.
Every single thing you mentioned was added/removed to make people play the game longer but not enjoyable.
I have 3 toons capable of 10+ keys right now, with triple Rank 3s. 2 toons with Rank 4s.
I have like 5 toons above ilvl 410.
Quite the opposite, I don’t just abandon alts out of boredom of having nothing to actually do on them now. Since I actually have something to work towards on them.
You would think
That is so bad in many ways. These new systems have turned off me wanting to do endgame on alts. Just lvl them. I do not want to spebd my free time regrinding the same stuff. It just makes it an easier to play another game that doesn’t have roadblocks for its gameplay. Legion was pretty good. Anyone could walk in and succeed if they had decent progression on there mains. The pvp scaling was good to crank out matches.
Now I find it easier to just pvp in another game with way less roadblocks and hero variety. I am not finding it fun to stick with my class in pvp. And changing classes now seems like a huge commitment. Not everyone wants that for there free time.
Especially when made with choices in personal life or other games I find it easier to say not WoW right now.
I like pathfinder. You do the grinding once and it literally benefits you and all your alts after it’s finished. The same is not true for essences. Pathfinder is way better in comparison. I am not forced to regrind the same quests to fly. I have choices when leveling alts.
But the way the essences are it feels bad- you might have to play sonething you don’t want to.
You might have to do it again on alts.
- you don’t have different options of acquiring it. Legend you had a ton more options to get the same thing.
Too many other systems at the same time. Azerite, Rep grinding, Azerite gear, talents, addons to keep track of unintuitive but optimal talents, and regrinding this stuff and knowledge on alts every patch.
Wheras Oh I can fly now on all my toons yay. Goes to play overwatch to avoid roadblocks of just playing the game.
Essences are part of the Heart of Azeroth which is a piece of gear, that’s why they are bound to a character. Gears are not account wide. It’s like the legendary cape quest of MoP and ring from WoD. I dont understand why people dont understand.
Well, I wish you success in life and wish you a good day.
No they arent. You literally put the essences into your heart of azerite. If you made those items bound on account like the flightpath books everyone would be chill. They sort of made resources bind on account this way for example. Gold is tradeable. Alot of resources are made alt friendly this way. Regrinding the same essences is not really fun. At least for me, and you feel like your missing power without them.
Essences are a good example of a feature that I actually like quite a bit for a main character and maybe a primary alt, but not so much on additional alts.
It really depends on the essence. The mythic dungeon essence is easy to get at the rank 3 level if you are already running mythics.
But some of the other essences are a little onerous, especially the reputation-based essences. I don’t mind working through Rustbolt once or twice, but more than that starts to be excessive.
Ultimately, relaxing the requirements for alts is the best solution, imho. Just make it easier for an account to acquire essences once they have been unlocked on a main (with the exception of the cosmetic rank).
Since that other thread is stuck in a bugged loop
