How about a server where you can attack your own faction? Then faction % won’t even matter and this server would be so much fun. This is how pvp servers worked on an oldschool mmorpg called Dark Age of Camelot. You could kill members of your own faction/realm, just not in the major cities. Sure those servers eventually died because people are snowflakes and that game didn’t have millions on it like wow does. You also got exp and a little bit of coin for killing other players, so you could level just from pvping.
So like i could be in stormwind a nelf could knife me at the mail box?
Wouldn’t the 25-100 people playing the ffa pvp server technically be the snowflakes?
God shadowblades were fun in those realms
How about this though: All pvp servers that flip past 60/40 are automatically rolled into those servers with free faction changes that go out each time it happens
A self-balancing server without bullsht micros
I think any pvp server that has a disparity over 70% should automatically turn into a PvE server until it dips back down to a 50/50 split.
There has to be some leeway, 55/45 seems reasonable, but I like the idea
The solution is warmode. Pvp servers Areca failure. The reason people transfer is to be tht dominant faction because boy makes the game better.
Warmode is just /pvp on a pve server with extra xp. No need for it in tbc.
Oh you mean like the City of Chicago on pretty much any given weekend.
Do you think these threads are in anyway related to PvE servers?
Pvp servers, as can be seen by the faction stacking ng and Transfers Areca failed idea. Why do you think no one will transfer to a minority pvp server? Why do you think every guild is planing on moving to Benediction?
Pvp servers were removed for a reason. It leads to people either transferring or quitting. The game is simply not fun when you exist as entertainment for the dominant faction where greater numbers trumps everything.
Warmode is something that only works on a pve server though. I don’t get why you even brought it up or why you just went off on such a huge tangent about it.
I love this idea. When people wreck a realm, take the toys away until it’s rebalanced.
Reduce layering and enable faction-specific login queues.
If there aren’t enough minority-faction players to justify a new layer, the majority faction goes into a login queue.
It’s pretty clear Im saying pvp servers have run their course and should go away
On the original topic, I don’t mind the idea of a FFA server although I wouldn’t play on it. I can see why people would enjoy FFA. With that being said this is one of those “resources” issues since Blizzard has already failed in many areas with this game.
I personally want to play horde vs alliance and I’ve said so on the HvH and server balance threads many times. We have this game which is “unique” with factions where your own faction is your friends and the other is the enemy. This time Blizzard decides “Hey just lets take tons of transfer money and lets not regulate balance at all and lets allow forever layered mega servers that feel just like Retail with no goal of ever turning off layers. Actually lets just take away everything that made the Classic WoW games what they were.” Then we have players who belong on PVE servers (which are fine by the way) but aren’t smart enough to figure that out being completely fine with all of this.
Warmode (which is really just another form of layering) is on the list of reasons of why I walked away from Retail. I’d honestly rather flag on a PVE server. At least single layer PVE servers still feel like a world and not like some disjointed CRZ Retail mess.
Also imo anyone who says they do not want PVP servers at all does not belong here and should go back to Retail where they do belong. They are the players responsible for ruining the game.
please this!
Might have to wait till Classic MoP. And be in Timeless Isle
.
Would be cool though to make exclusive servers just for that. It would be clear what everyone was signing up for.
I’ve used warmode extensively on retail and it seems that Horde pretty much get a free pass with it while the Alliance struggle to even complete world quests. (I played Horde all of Legion/BFA, whenever it was introduced?) I can’t even take it seriously, It’s always been 40 Horde swarming 1 Alliance. But what do you mean only works on PVE servers? Is the sharding different?
Give allies a 75%damage and health buff in outland
Server faction balance could be simple to implement. Simply stop allowing new accounts to the server from creating characters on the overpopulated faction. Servers could grow equally, and numbers could be set that once x many accounts outnumbered one faction, the character creation for the overpopulated faction would be suspended until balance was eventually achieved.
so not only will i be attacked by the dominant faction in the world, now it can also be my faction? sure sounds perfect
