People who can't follow a good tank, play followers

a “good” tank is subjective, aint it, sorta?

How many of the tanks that poorly pull a whole instance are bad and don’t know it? I’m willing to bet a lot. I see more messy mega-pulls than I do controlled mega-pulls.

I’m all for a fast run if the tank can handle it.

Very few tanks I have seen do this. And the OP makes no mention of los, only “pulling big”.

Frequently the dps and healer get aggro trying to help get casters interrupted, and healing these tanks who are more concerned with the “BIG PULL” than using active mitigation and not being a squishball.

i have experienced this more times than i can count… tanks with that rushrushrush mentality man…

i get that mythic+ is a thing, but i’m doing normal dungeons and get this. NORMAL dungeons. it’s ridiculous.

Scaling is to blame here. 70-74 people feel like gods and go ham. You level so quick that by 78-79 you didn’t get much gear, and the scaling works against you and you’re super weak.

People don’t adjust quick enough and still go ham, and die to consecrate or free casting mobs etc.

I only died when tanking when i stood in bad and got stunned.

Otherwise Tanks are still pretty much unkillable.

i’m not even talking about current content though, i’m talking about content from older expansions! wotlk dungeons, old-world dungeons, pandaria dungeons, dragonflight dungeons, etc, folks are going through at the speed of sound! like… do they have a bus to catch or something? what’s the rush? i get that they’ve seen the content before, but i don’t think there’s any reason to be zooming through shadowfang keep like that. :man_facepalming:

Y’all never play and it shows, a good tank will pull behind a Pilar and should not need heal in heroic

tanks can die?

I’ll be honest: I’ve attacked a pull-in-progress a few times. Every time I think “ah yeah okay that’s it” it just isn’t. What would really eliminate this issue is — and stay with me here, I know this is a little crazy — communicating with the rest of the group.

With the whole “gogogo” mentality, I get thinking I need to start contributing as soon as possible. It’d help to just say “hey, gonna pull all these packs” rather than doing it silently and letting everyone else play the guessing game. Especially if it’s something that annoys you as a tank; why not mitigate the chances of that happening from the jump by communicating your intent, y’know?

Gosh, not only have I done that, but TWICE I’ve somehow managed to get in front of the tank and accidently pull mobs fighting each other. I thought the havoc was the tank. ok, ok 3 times. Fine 4. Whatever 6 isn’t that much.

announce it to the pug beforehand what you’re intentions are

and be sure not to let that lone caster start taking chunks outta your healer for some passive trait or whatever (I hate that)

if you can handle that, then : :dracthyr_shrug:

People should know if the tank is pulling to follow him behind a Pilar, this is crazy.

Very few tanks actually do this. I know, it’s crazy. There are enough tanks who pull big and think they are playing well, but in fact are not.

You shouldn’t be surprised that people are skeptical of all this boasting and shifting blame to the rest of the group when things go bad.

An actual “good” tank will be able to adjust to the group to ensure success, and not do whatever they want despite the group, and then complain about it on the forums.

If you complain about people often, play follower dungeons.

Tanks I play with pull entire rooms.

You act as if other players are your servants / slaves…

People have their own will and style to play video games, you need to learn to accept that.

To be fair I can follow a good tank but when you’re pugging the odds aren’t great on getting a “good” anything.

It’s just the price you pay for the convenience of queued content instead of using a pre-made group.

I mean reality is a tanks job is to hold aggro and help keep the group alive alongside the healer. If the tank is mega pulling with no communication and gets everyone killed thats on the tank. Good tanks know when to put the group before there pixelated ego.

If you happen to have a Shaman healer, make sure to right-click the Earth Shield they put on you before making “big pulls”. Since you’re not going to aggro all the mobs, and the heals from the Earth Shield create aggro toward the healer, it pretty much works like a hunter misdirect onto the healer. Good tanks know this, but after healing 40+ normal and heroic dungeons, I’ve only had one tank remove the ES before going nuts.

Bingo

lol.

“hi all! I fully intend on wiping this run two times minimum.”

That’s me, not the tank.
