okay so… this is a dumb, simple question i got but… i’ve heard folks are swapping to horde cause the mythic+ people are swapping to horde (or maybe it was mythic raiders, i dunno i only heard this in passing).
now, what i don’t understand, is why. like, why are the mythic + people moving over to horde? is it the racials? if so, which ones? i’m honestly at a loss here, and would appreciate someone clarifying this for me.

Majority of the Mythic+/Raiding community is on Horde so if you want to do either, you generally switch factions. Creates a snowball effect where as more people move over, more people need to move over.

The Horde has everything you need honestly. want to be a badass savage play an orc, troll or tauren. Do you want to be beautiful or graceful we have elves for that, creepy and gross? undead is the way to go. feel like being an Italian techno gangster do I have a deal for you! we even have furries covered with Pandas and Foxes. Face it alliance the future is Hordemale

ma’am, i’ve been playing since the end of MoP. i’m not new, just… oblivious. there’s a difference. also, everyone seems to be avoiding my question about why all the raiders/mythic+'ers are over on the horde.
People who like to win BG matches switch to horde. I know i’m faction changing one my toons for that express purpose.
It literally boils down to racials for the top players and then the next rung of raiders copy them and so on until people are mass faction changing.
Powerful racials = winning raid/m+ teams. Easy answer in a nut shell
It might have started as racials but it’d be mostly for the numbers now.
There is one thing I’ve noticed as someone who played Horde for a while they do ‘get stuff done’ - I did my first succesful run of Uldir on Horde side, long after it was released compared to many attempts I’ve tried on Alliance to do the dungeon.
It’s almost always smooth until G’huun himself but I’ve had people RQ on Fetid Devourer of all things too.
I swapped Horde because I wanted to be a Nightborne. Legion is my favorite expansion and had my favorite aesthetic.
Unfortunately the Nightborne models weren’t all that good. So I went Zandalari as a placeholder in hopes Kyrian become a playable race in Shadowlands.

Changes to racials will prompt an exodus, then you’ll see friends and guilds of people who want to transfer with go too.
It’s gone back and forth a few times for PvP balance too. Alliance was popular in WoD when humans still had the PvP trinket racial before it got converted to stun only and then shared a cooldown with PvP trinket.
Berserking on trolls is pretty insane just all together speeding up attacks/spell casting with bloodfury on orcs being a close runner up. Pre nerfed Belves had an insane racial that was I think an aoe stun/manaburn, Tauren still do have an aoe stun. The best Racials for the Alliance are the Human , Kultiran, Dark Iron and Mechagnomes
don’t forget void-elves having unslowable casts!
This has been discussed on the forums repeatedly. You must be new to the forums, or not been here for a while.
It was stoneform on dwarves that started the movement to alliance in wod.
True the void elves are actually decent if you are going to play a magic class. Honestly I feel like they are the ideal mage/warlock on the alliance if you wanted to min max
A few expansions ago horde racials were a bit better so the snowball started rolling.
Even though when given the choice on tournament realm everyone goes alliance now the better racials don’t out weigh the bigger player pool that horde has now.
Side note on oceanic servers alliance is the larger faction.
