This is the correct answer. I was Alliance and stuck with it as long as I could. But the quality of players on my once Full population, now Medium/Low population server was so bad that it was impossible to keep 22-23 good players to raid mythic. I swapped during Uldir with the majority of my guild and it’s been awesome ever since.

Troll berserking is like 0.01 more DPS on average than other racials so the top percentile of raiders went horde. Everyone who fantasizes about applying to these guilds but never do thought that it matters more than it does, and followed suit. Snowball ensues.

It’s where a much larger portion of the population is. No “real” reason other than that, that I know of.
I am a night elf at heart. I love everything night elf but it seems that the devs have been disrespecting their low in favor of Horde side more and more. And the players have been following them in this…

People are slowly moving to Horde because Horde is where the “competitive” players go. It’s not even a racial balance thing or anything like that at this point. It’s that the recruitment pool for guilds and pugs alike is just that much stronger and more readily available than it is on Alliance.
Alliance still has plenty of people to DO the content, but it’s often going to be less clean and take longer to form.

The more players that move to Horde, the more imbalance it becomes.
And on Alliance side, players attitudes are getting worse.

Following the crowd. Alliance are the new Horde.
I’ve noticed over the last few expansions that while more guilds and players seem to be going to the Horde, the faction itself isn’t more coordinated, cooperative, or capable. I’ve personally noted an increase of hostility, laziness, poor manners, and a general unpleasantness creeping into the faction.
BfA is the first expansion where I have played Alliance almost exclusively, and when I do play Horde my theories seem to be confirmed every time I switch over.

Stone form and emfh caused the switch from horde to alliance in WOD. Stone form was nerfed in WOD and in legion with the new pvp talents emfh was indirectly nerfed.
With mythic + though it was discovered that blood elf arcane torrent could cheese some mechanics and that started a major move. BE racial was nerfed but too late as more raiders transferred over to the horde.
With the crappy expac of bfa and opening of classic I’d imagine that population decreased somewhat on both sides but since of the transfers in legion it hurt the alliance a lot more. So now remaining players transfer to horde to take part in end game content. Because raiding and end content on the alliance side is difficult to get into without an active guild
lets not forget goblins racial on mythic KJ 
not sure how it’s going to work out in the end for us alliance players… dev’s will have to intervene at some point…
thing is “at some point” is like 4-5 years now

it was racials, from what I understand they’re balanced now
the people moving now are a result of the damage done to the alliance mythic raiding scene in the time they weren’t balanced
it’s hard to fix it cause you have to manipulate statistics driven players into swapping back over “evenly”, so the one’s who follow them and their advice will do the same, which would require making an alliance racial op
It’s player participation issue.
Which is ironic considering Horde racial traits are garbage for the most part.
Casuals will chase the “aesthetics race” regardless, despite Vulpera being worthless min-max wise.

I’m going Alliance for Shadowlands, getting a whole new perspective of things and some better racial traits to boot.
