I wish they allowed a 3rd choice, to keep flight like it was. I prefer to quickly change mounts to change flight style, rather than casting the spell each time. But I won’t be quitting over it.

I think Blizzard doesnt want to make 90% of mount useless prior to Pathfinder completion.

It’s not an issue of how long it takes, it’s an issue of there’s people who literally get ill from skyriding. If they can cater to the accessibility of the few with arachnophobia then they can enable static for those that get motion sick.

I’m a little slow. I don’t understand the “90% of mounts useless”.
Most of my 250+ mounts are useless until I decide to switch up which ones my characters are using.

I mean it kinda is. It’s not time-gated like Pathfinder usually is - just complete the leveling campaign and you’ve got it.
I don’t agree with the restriction but it’s not that big of a deal. You don’t have to skyride if you don’t want to and/or can’t.

A lot of people don’t like change, and Skyriding does feel strange! They can turn it off in multiple places. Help your friends learn how to do that if they are confused.
- Top of the mount journal is a spell to change it. Looks like a winged circle.
- Same spell can be put on your action bars and is default placed there when you log in if you have an open action bar spot.
- Probably in your spell book too but I have not looked.
If someone wants to quit over increased capacity, with the option to turn it off, that seems a bit dramatic to me.
If someone does not like it, click the button to turn it off. This one 
The only limitation is that the Expansion, War Within, has Dragonriding/Skyfling as default until max level like Dragonflight did. Old zones are all an easy toggle and flying is now available in old zones from level 10.

Honestly, what’s got me considering it is the toxicity in the community. It feels like 99% of the remaining playerbase are low level trolls. Remix was refreshing for a while, but even that has been getting toxic lately. And if I want to play a single player game, I have actual single player games that are not only better but also don’t cost me a monthly fee.
I’d dodged on FFXIV until last week when my brother finally pushed me into finally trying it, and the difference in communities is stark to say the least.
Whatever the reason for people unsubbing, though, Blizzard doesn’t seem to care, because they never address any of the core problems. Pretty soon, the only people playing this game will be the Amani tribe.

It was an objectively good change, and if players want to unsub over it the game is better off wthout them here to provide nonsense feedback tbh.

once the expansion drops and they can get steady flight, most will be back.
They suffered thru DF’s PF nonsense. If they enjoy the game otherwise they’ll be back sooner or later.
Clearly none of this was necessary. Ions petulance with flight has grown to be quite the pointless annoyance, but we all know pretty much what to expect from the guy by now.
Im just happy he reduced the work for steady flight …but that does prove beyond argument that it ISNT needed in the game at all…otherwise BOTH flight modes would require it.

For many years , I always thought it was the older folk who wouldn’t accept change. Now that I’m approaching seventy years old, I realize it’s mindset not age. I guess some people no matter their age will fight change. Need to unbind your knickers.

Yeah, the change that makes you choose between flight styles which sticks your regular flying mounts into the DF poor-control flying, or slows your DF mounts to little better than classic speed. More clicks and more game time wasted to FREELY CHOOSE.

Subscription numbers didn’t support this claim before Blizzard stopped releasing them. And I’d bet my left foot that trend hasn’t been broken since then, either.
