Penalising people for cancelling subscriptions by not making mount and other rewards available

I was previously on a 6 month subscription, but as I was unsure what my financial situation would be come next renewal I cancelled it early so I wouldn’t forget and get charged when I might not have had the money. Now to be eligible I have to pay the entire six month sub 20 days earlier than if I’d stayed subscribed. This is flat out underhanded tactics to ensure people stay subscribed (assuming they knew that they needed to have an active subscription to be eligible for these rewards, which I wasn’t aware… obviously, because I would have taken the chance I might forget and stayed subscribed just to be eligible for any rewards), it’s unfair that if I’d unsubscribed in the days before my subscription ran out I’d have been eligible, but now unless I pay the full sub again I’m missing out on an awesome mount and pet. This shouldn’t be the case, if someone has paid for a six month stint, any rewards during that time should be available to them regardless of if they have an active subscription or not. Say I’d gone back to monthly payments instead of flat out cancelling, I’d feel even more ripped off. I’m so tired of large companies like you taking advantage of people by relying on people to accidentally make more payments to you than they meant to via these kind of recurring subscriptions.

You do not technically need a subscription to get themount, the mount is 25$ as a stand alone, if you fear you can not cover the sub. Otherwise it is a loyalty gift for having a renewing sub, or paying for 6/12 months in advance.

No, it really isn’t, sorry.

Upfront purchase of promotional subscriptions was a condition back when they first started and alternated between game time purchases and subscriptions.

Not to mention the mount is available as a standalone purchase.

This is also pretty common knowledge with how long they’ve been operating with the current model.

That all said, if you’d like to suggest a change to how they currently run their promotions, this is not the forum to do so. Customer Support has zero involvement with anything outside account- and billing-related circumstances.

You’ll want to head over to the Shop forums and toss a thread up there.

I was subscribed, if I hadn’t cancelled early I would still have been eligible, I shouldn’t have to buy it from the shop.

One of the requirements though is to be on a continuing renew, not just be subbed. Sorry. Most likely the mount will still be there if you wish to buy the 6 months again when you are ready to pay for the 6 months, we can not say for sure when it will go away. Sup to you.

But the moment you cancelled, you became ineligible as the subscription would no longer renew (which is a clear and defined condition of the promotion).

The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, the fact that someone is willing to sign up for six months should be loyalty enough.

I think this is just the final nail in the coffin for me, I barely get game time play right now as it is and to miss out on rewards just because I don’t have an active sub is rubbish.

I was considering having a break from the game as I wasn’t getting value for money with the amount I was playing, this crap criteria for being eligible for a reward I could have got if I’d stayed subscribed until only days before my sub ran out has cemented it for me. Guess by the time I’ve returned I’ll have saved up in subscription fees the amount the mount is worth.

And this is the way it has worked for a couple years now, It isn’t something they changed recently, and certainly not since OP canceled their subscription.

So, maybe I’m confused. Are you saying you should get the rewards for being subbed for six months even though you canceled your sub? Just want to make sure I understand this correctly.

I wasn’t aware and now it’s too late, who honestly has time to go through the rules about this stuff every time to make sure they haven’t changed it. It doesn’t change the fact that it’s not fair.

The ‘rules’ were about one paragraph, and that paragraph hasn’t changed in a couple years.

And to be clear, all you have to do is re-subscribe. Yes, you’d be billed 20 days sooner than if you hadn’t canceled, but you don’t somehow lose those 20 days.

Or spend the $25 and just buy the mount.

Hopefully everyone does so they know what they’re spending their income on rather than hoping for the best.

It’s not an encyclopedia though. It takes mere moments to read a few points.

But the fact is, it hasn’t changed since they introduced this type of promotion years ago.

Caveat Emptor.

The ‘rules’ you’ve been to busy to read predate your infant child.

I don’t even know that I can justify the time I’ve brought already given the lack of active game play I can get in thanks to my one year old, led alone consider buying more time. The eligibility criteria is just the final nail in the coffin because it’s not fair, if someone pays for six months in a bulk buy, they should be eligible for the rewards the entire time that six months is active regardless of subscription.

Well if you’re too busy to play (and as a parent, I totally get that), you definitely won’t miss the mount.

But that is not the point of the promotion. Blizzard doesn’t want people to subscribe then cancel. The promotion is designed to promote renewals. That’s the whole point.

Its an awesome mount! I will miss it, but as I said I guess with the amount I’ll save by not playing for several mouths I guess I’ll have enough to buy it from the store.

You’re right, I don’t. They’ve progressed past that point.

That still doesn’t entitle anyone to no consequences for not reading things, however.
