Playing WoW for the very first time.
Tried to purchase a 1 month subscription, and it gave me an error message.
Tried a different card just for the sake of it, same error message.
Tried added a payment method directly into my account, error message.
Checked my bank account, I was charged 8 times, $1.
Lost 8 bucks and no subscription was ever created.
Opened a ticket, it gave me a ticket number and a link to follow, link doesn’t work.
It’s not a bank problem.
It’s not an account problem (never had any chargeback, it’s really my first time playing any Blizz game).
My account is correctly set to Canada.
Anyone to shed a light?
I don’t care about the subscription anymore. I’ll just go back to Final Fantasy most likely.
But want my money back.
The $1 authorizations are just temporary holds. That money will be returned to you. Those go out to ensure that the form of payment is legitimate, kind of like a test. They’re not actual charges.
As to your payment not going through - what type of card are you trying to use? A regular debit or credit card? A Visa/MC/Amex gift card?
Before the $1 holds, did you have enough funds to cover the cost of your subscription as well as any taxes imposed by your locality? A lot of times people aren’t considering the fee would be taxed, so it’s the easiest thing to explain away.
Hey, thanks for replying.
I used a credit card (VISA), and yes I do have more than enough funds - the total purchase with taxes would be only $21, not slightly a problem.
Right now I would think your biggest issue will be to call your bank just to make sure they’re aware that you trying to make the purchase is legit. If you’ve got eight different $1 test transactions sitting there on hold, it could be that your account is temporarily locked to prevent unauthorized use. Normally I’ve seen that happen at only three, maybe four attempts. If you got eight attempts in, you may want to try and contact them tomorrow or Monday, depending on their hours of operation.
It’s not ideal, but another workaround you may be able to try? Try setting your subscription up through a Paypal account if you have one. You can kind of work the system a bit, even if it is an extra step. Sometimes this works for folks.
Perhaps tomorrow when the SFAs get back into the office, they can offer some other advice or insight. I’m sorry I don’t have much more to offer beyond that.
I see your tickets, Kathrez - but as the GM told you in their first reply - I’m not seeing the attempts either. That usually means it failed very very early in the process.
I’d leave your current ticket open.
We’ve also brought back Live Chat - but on a very limited basis. Should be open tomorrow for a few hours if you’d like a more real-time chat with a GM.
Thanks for your kind response.
I spoke to my bank this morning and they confirmed the issue is on Blizz side.
However, my payment went through this morning (using the very same everything, so I can’t see much of an explanation here).
Hope I get my 8 dollars back, though. Not because of the money itself, but because it’s wrong.
That generally means that your bank was lying to you and then flagged your account to accept the charges. They will not admit that it was their fault, and will almost always blame the site you are attempting to purchase something from, but that is the banking industry.
