Pathfinder Part 2 can still work, but it needs to change

It cannot work as-is.

Sure it can, why do you think it can’t? I mean Blizzard could decide to just disable flying in warmode if it turns out to be too much of an issue there.

Because people would rather un-sub than wait.

And then when they sub back they complain they have to do the rep. It’s a broken record at this point.

If they allowed flying after completing Pathfinder part 1. That would allow people to fly pretty soon and not feel overly time gated. I personally would prefer this, but I know everyone feels something different.

Yeah, some people will un-sub no matter what is chosen.

How about a quest line at max level that logically gets you flying (after being given given a logical reason why we can’t fly)?

Oh, but that would require actual unique world content instead of just using leveling content. Can’t have that! Ion only enjoys raiding and M+ therefore interesting world content with a worthwhile reward is right out.

It just makes me sad to see how lousy this game has gotten. It’s like going to a top-notch department store and, when you go in, you realize it’s pretty much a thrift store now.

It’s not about just that. Gating gives an equal chance for everyone to fly at roughly the same time.

What they should have done is add flight to part 1 on 8.1.

You say the game is lousy now. Good. But how would fly fix that? It would just be lousier faster. Now I don’t pretend to know the ins and outs of development but what if finishing textures to allow flying right now just remove time to do stuff that actually matter?

They did lie when they said it was a compromise. But it’s really just a reataliation against the players by the developers for forcing there hands to add flying. In wod , after saying that they were gonna not add flying. It caused a massive unsub wave to grow. In which prompted the devs to add a customer service window to appear when you went to unsub. They inquired as to why players were leaving. Flying was one of the major reasons, which after the executives then flexed there power. Having the devs go back on what they said originally. It would have been back to normal from a trainer. But no the devs like Ion , Alex and others wanted to stick it to the playerbase that wanted flying. So they retailiated by putting the stipulation of pathfinder. An obstacle designed to hold flying at bay like a carrot on a stick for months on end. The devs hated the fact that the number of players had the power to change there decision on flying.
I am so hoping activision cleans house with the devs responsible for this. Along with the crappy bfa story.

How is a lie if it’s a compromise, they were ready to straight up remove it!? And about your last sentence, the main dev that decided is already gone …

Because its not a compromise its retailiation. See it for what it is. Players never agreed to it, they never asked if players wanted pathfinder or a trainer. They just enforced it as the only means to getting flying.

How’s it not a compromise though? The original plan was to remove it entirely. Blizzard was in favor of removing it entirely, the players were against that. So Blizzard compromised with us and brought it back, but just behind a series of time gates tasks before we can actually have it.

We may not like the compromise, but it is a compromise and they didn’t lie when they said that Pathfinder was a compromise - the alternative was no flying at all.

Where Blizzard did lie to us though, was at the launch of WoD when they said flying would come back just at a later time then the went back on that and said it was never coming back, only to compromise later and give us Pathfinder. The compromise isn’t a lie though.

A compromise would have been adding of two options pathfinder or a trainer at max level. But instead we just got stuck with one option. The lie was calling it a compromise, but it was retailiation because the devs didn’t like seeing that the players have the power to get things changed. So instead they lock flying behind two achievments and a long time gate. Instead of allowing players to fly at max level like previous expansions prior to wod. Flying was never really an issue , the devs just wanted to make it an issue because the artist were crying that players weren’t seeing all the flowers and ground clutter. Then they tried arguing that skipping over mobs is bad. Yet we have classes that can stealth past mobs. They ignore that part and tend to avoid answering anything on that. With the new power activ holds one can hope that things get reverted to make the game great again. Because the current b or c team devs don’t know what there doing.

Retaliation… you keep using that word. But I don’t think it means what you think it means.

Though the word can be used in the same topic. As in : in retaliation to the removal of flight, the players unsubbed.

The compromise is that we still have access to flying, the alternative would have been it’s complete removal. Giving us both Pathfinder and the Trainer wouldn’t be any sort of compromise - it’d be what we already had, plus something else.

The very fact that Blizzard changed their position and gave us pathfinder is a compromise - we may not like it, but is a compromise and it’s better than current the alternative (no flight at all)

Giving two options would have shown the devs what players would have rather have done. That would have been a “compromise”. I am sure if gold cost was kept the same. The charts would show more players just paying for flight. Instead of grinding out reps and other things to unlock it at least on the first char. But then there would be evidence showing majority of players spending gold . Instead of doing the achievement , the devs wouldn’t want evidence showing that they were wrong again. That’s why they only have one option for flying.

It has been this way since WOD, fat chance of them changing it now for lazy people. Good luck with it though.

They did remove it in any location in the game that counts. Most players likely spend their time in current content areas. Areas where you can’t fly. Once a new zone is released with whatever grind goes along with P2, you won’t be able to fly there even when you complete P2. But that’s where all the new content and rewards will be.

  1. I bet you’re tons of fun at parties.
  2. Exactly what part of my statement implies laziness?

WE HAVE LITERALLY ALREADY DONE THE WORK. THERE IS NO REASON TO WITHHOLD FLYING WHEN YOU HAVE FINISHED THE CHORES.

What part of that is so hard to compute?
Again, you are arguing just to argue.

@Felicity

Yes, some of us did the work. Take that into account.

Most have done the work , its the stupid wait for part 2 /enabling flight. At this point I’d rather spend the gold at a trainer then waiting for part two.
