There seems to be speculation in this forum that PathFinder (PF) will be gone soon. A mix of reviews really. A small vocal minority claim Blizz is tired of fighting about it, and will likely get rid of it soon. Another small vocal minority says it finally feels right and this is what it will look like moving forward.
I just have to wonder… is Blizz reading all of this and just not stepping up to clarify because of repercussions from either side? I mean, it is their game, and their decision, but, would it settle things down if people knew it was staying like this, or actually going away at some point?
I got it in the first 3 days of early access. Others still don’t have it because Dragonriding is difficult for them mentally, physically, visually, or a combination. So I’d like to think the team will at least clarify Pathfinder’s longevity, before both vocal minorities jump on each other’s heads over an achievement that appears to be, at least in my opinion and not fact, in a good place for the first time since Warlord’s of Draenor.

When they decided to give Dragonriding on day one thats when it should have been gone. You give it away or you dont. You have flying or you dont

TBC flying, and Dragonriding both carry you through the skies, and while one is slower, it offers more control to bypass open world elements. The other is like crashing with style. Personally, I have disliked PF since its introduction, but I’m just glad it was easy this time and not the huge rep mess it was in the past. I would love to see it gone, but I cannot imagine Blizz is ever going to remove it since they fought to justify its existence for a decade.

Pathfinder is a vindictive flex on the community. It serves no purpose anymore.

Agreed. But why is it still a thing? And why do they keep nerfing it to make it more friendly? Ultimately, if it is a “vindictive flex”, why not just remove it entirely?

The people who are responsible for the presence of yet another iteration of Pathfinder will never let it go until they are done getting even with the fun-loving casuals who they still blame for making them bring back flying in wod. You know, the fun-loving casuals who quit the game forever after Blizzard admitted in an internet interview done the Friday before a holiday weekend that they’d been lying all along about not having made a decision, and flight was gone forever from new content.

Seems like a lot of effort simply to satisfy a vendetta.

Grudges can be a powerful motivator for those with a vindictive mindset. Blizzard does not like admitting they have made a mistake, especially when they feel that they were right and the unsubbers were dead wrong. Being forced to roll back changes by a large wave of unsubs is basically admitting they made a mistake.
In DF it appeared from the start that they had no intention of enabling regular flying in the expansion. They had plans to extend dragonriding into old content, but it was only much later that they created DF Pathfinder, so people who struggled with dragonriding would have to complete a lot of content they had probably skipped because of the difficulty of doing it without flight.

When someone here says somethings is something, rather than they think I put out my hand and ask for a source or statistics. So tell me facts about these small vocal minorites, please.
Because I haven’t personally seen any of that. All Blizzard is doing is making one form of flight available at launch and another version available after doing a form of Pathfinder.
I’m glad you think it is in a ‘good place’. I think it would be in a better place if both forms of flight were available in the same way. Either they both are there at the start or they are both there after a Pathfinder. Making them separate is not in a good place, its a stoopid place.

Lol thats cute, you can ask for a source in 1 hand and crap in the other then see which hand is filled first.
No. I placed in my OP the words:
So you are welcome to discuss your opinion on the topic. I won’t be engaging in baited antagonism.
You said, if I may quote your post:
That’s stating a fact. Not saying, “I think another small minority”. Not an unreasonable question to ask where you draw this fact from.

Pathfinder is basically a reminder of Devs getting mad at pro flyers who voted with their wallet

I think classic flying should be available from the start
But I also think Pathfinder is too easy this time around to really care. You’ll unlock it by accident, and only have to do it once. There are way more important things to worry about
You’re welcome to parse words. The entire OP is an opinion piece. So I will stay on topic.
They said they were doing this in the Q&A, and now people are somehow shocked. As for it being in a “stoopid place”, stupid is a subjective opinion, much like mine. This is why I was curious if it is staying or going. Honestly, I would like to see it gone for good. But there is no concrete evidence showing it leaving anytime soon.
Are you speeding through the skies in your car? I’m worried…

Pathfinder basically doesn’t exist anymore.
Well, it does, but your reward is ‘steady flying’ (fly-swimming) lol, the old flying.
As of Dragonflight, when we were flying as soon as we got there, it was basically removed in essence.
We’ve been flying ever since, with skyriding.
If we were forced on the ground, and skyriding was unlocked after we did Pathfinder, it’d be like how it was before.
I think Blizzard knows most people hated it, so they just removed it.
i think it’s in a very good place. and with the looooong transition from dflight to airswimming, i think they essentially killed old flight anyway.
I canceled my sub because of that interview. For the first time ever. Only came back after they announced flying is back.
With the announcement of stable flying put behind pathfinder in TWW I changed my sub from 12-month-sub to 1-month-sub because at this point I don’t know how long I’ll keep playing the game. Dynamic flying has changed the zone design of the game in a direction I don’t like. So I’m playing old content now until I’m bored and eventually will leave.
It makes me quite sad but it is what it is.
