Pathfinder and Using Mounts We PAID for

Back in Pandaria (you know, when WoW was fun), we had to get all flight paths in order to using our flying mounts, life seemed to make sense.

Question for Devs…what percentage of players got the Pathfinder quests done (1 and 2) so that they could fly in:
WoD?
SL?
DF?

Could it possibly be that you have made a mistake? Just…maybe…in an open world game, we shouldn’t need to play all your content in order to use things we have already earned or PAID for…

Yeah, there’s no real reason to prohibit people from using normal flying at the start. It’s also makes accessibility an issue for many. Who knows, maybe Dragonriding will get locked behind pathfinder later on lol.

Should have to be maxed out with the mole sniffers on Zaralak Caverns on order to Dragon fly. They are the super secret Aviation Administration of the Dragon Isles. Secret Lore confirmed!

I think it especially stopped making sense in DF considering we could fly there from day 1 3x faster than we can with normal flying anyway.

Unlocking worse flying when you had to do nothing to fly faster on day 1 is weird.

They want you to actually experience the expansion somewhat before you get your noclip cheat code activated.

You didn’t pay for a fluffy pillow and hot cup of coffee, you paid for a video game and all that it entails. Some people have a car before a license, so I’m not sure about this paid for argument. I don’t find it compelling.

So, you’re saying you don’t like Pathfinder? Check.

Next expansion is just MSQ and static flying unlocks. And almost all of your mounts will be dynamic flying capable.

While it is an accessibility issue, they have been working on a lot more accessibility options and tweaks to help with dynamic flying. It’s a goal of theirs to make sure as many as possible can use it.

the old mans flying being locked behind pathfinding when the new dragon ridin isnt is still prolly one of the most mind boggling choices ive seen from blizz lol. its just super backwards but ok.

Flying was the mistake.

Makes it tougher for bots to bot.

Flying was one of the best features to ever be put into wow. Don’t like flying? Don’t fly.

According to wowhead:
wod-67%, legion-72/72%, bfa-76/71%, df-70%

Shadowlands was just doing the campaign.

I wonder what you thought the percentages were going to be.

As for the “we PAID for them!!!” crap, there’s nothing about not being able to fly that prevents you from actually using the mounts. The only exception was summoning dragonriding mounts in zones where that wasn’t enabled. But good luck appealing to that, since there was just as vocal a population whining about the implementation of that feature in the first place (even though it was enabled in the expansion from day 1).

No bots at all in DF, no siree.

What actually makes it tougher for bots: GMs existing instead of being laid off, so they can take a quick peek at accounts that spend 100+ hours per week gathering or grinding.

I like dragonriding plenty, and was very glad to have it available on day 1 of the expansion, but there is no sense in arguing that it fights bots. Bots figured out how to automate fishing >10 years ago, of course they are going to deal with dragonriding too.

I already have that guy blocked, but bots can literally dragonride.

When flying was enabled in Cataclysm for old world content, THEY had my subscription for life…THEN Pathfinder happened. I stopped purchasing new expansion and no longer spend hours each day logged in. I feel that there is no reason to not enable Pre MOP flying requirements along with continuing to allow players to complete Pathfinder requirements if they so choose. I’ve been playing WOW for a very long time. The hook that got me to subscribe is what a hardcore player had told me: that World of Warcraft was designed, either on purpose or by happenstance, around many play styles and many skill levels. I found this to be true then…seems its not so much now.
/wipes tears from eyes

Bots figured out dragonriding day one and were even using the under terrain teleport exploit right from the start. You are very correct.

I was pretty sure it was just hit max level, and pay a set amount of gold (per character) to a vendor.

It’s not unreasonable the content before being able to flyhack over it.

The flight type that’s a more accessible option needs to be earned at the same time as the less accessible version. Make both versions of flight available at the start. No MSQ required. I’m not looking forward to being stuck on the ground to level while others who can dragonride are flying while leveling. I have to get a ride from someone any time dragonriding is required.

Those are WoWhead profile completion numbers I think.

I don’t think that’s all WoW accounts or even all WoW accounts that were active at the time or whatever.
