Well, I do, and a few others, but saying ‘everyone’ is just as untrue and hyperbolic as saying ‘everyone’ prefers DR and wants Old Flying removed. Probably even more untrue, as those who really dislike DR probably have already left the game, leaving only those who DO like DR.
I got no beef with those who love DR as long as they let me be allowed to fly the way I want to.
Which is why they put PF in this way. They can say that no one wants old flight any more and make another run at killing it. I predicted this when they announced DF. Ion has a huge ego and is willing to tank the game to win.
It is a business. Running off sections of the player base to suit edgelords has not improved it. Sooner or later they will run off enough of the semi whales to lower the profitability and bad things will happen. Blizzard leadership(Ion being part) have a reputation for “dont you have a phone?” and the war on flying. Sooner or later they will step on their swords and not be able to convince the lost customers to come back.
How do you know everyone loathed dragon flying? Take away what you see in the forum echo chamber which tends to be biased against things and what other evidence do you have that says dragon flying is unpopular?
Fine, they are doing what they can for disabled people. That’s big of them, they didn’t have to do that but they did. But what about the rest of us? Where is there any evidence, other than the extremely unreliable forum echo chamber, that dragon flying is not popular or that players just feel neutral about it?
I have. Of the hundreds of thousands of people who play this game a few dozen are expressing their views. Hardly an indication of how “the players” feel in general.
Literally the reason I generally don’t log in for 2-3 months at a time. Logging in feels like inherent work. There’s too much you NEED to do in order to play the game to it’s full potential. They need to learn that it’s okay if their players play other games. You get my sub money regardless even if I sub to four other games. Like why think you NEED to be the only game I play…?
Well how many different people wrote those notes? Even if you guess that the average is 2 notes per person, that’s 500 people and if “most” are against dragon riding then say 400 people.
That’s an echo chamber of 400 angry people out of over 100 thousand active players.
Sure but how many of them are the same people entering notes in different threads of the forum? I was being generous when I said the average was 2 per person, it’s probably a lot more than that.
Forums are notorious for forming “echo chambers” of angry people telling each other what they want to hear about how terrible something is. But the question is what percentage of the player base is participating in that discussion?
The people who are angry about something claim they speak for “the players” but provide no proof at all that they do.
That’s about as weak an argument as I’ve ever seen. No matter how much you like a game, it’s still a game. You have to be obsessive to play that game all the time to the exclusion of other activities.
And the argument says nothing about proving that the forum echo chamber represents the player base in general.
