Bad take. Doesn’t matter what the devs wanted to happen, it matter what the players want. They’re just still ticked off about having to keep flying in so they’ve kept pathfinder out of spite even for this expansion where it makes no sense lol.

Oh I don’t care about normal flight coming, each to their own with that, I’m just wondering why people thought Pathfinding wasn’t going to be a thing. It will likely have a bonus reward associated and probably will be easily completed as usual.
And in a week we’ll see threads asking for normal flight to be boosted to dragon riding speeds.
My confusion was more on the disability aspect because in the last few weeks I’ve seen this touted a lot but nothing specific beyond symptoms. Hence my asking, I don’t care if normal flight shows up one way or another, I miss my mount variety anyway.
The wife has had the carpel tunnel surgery.
She had had to use some pad in front of her keyboard prior to that or her fingers were going numb if she tried to play much or type.
Shes much better now with that. Thankfully.
I realize some of the trolling sorts in here trying to pretend this affects them somehow, but it doesnt, literally at all, regardless of their claims otherwise.
Normal flight has one effect…it allows those having trouble with DRing to be able to get around better.

Because we’ve already flown all over the map and found every thing. The achievement is called “Pathfinder.” We did that already collecting glyphs.
What path is there left to find??

as far as i know, dragonriding isnt changing, only normal flight is being added for people who requested it, and it isnt being added to your DR mounts. its already in the game and has no effect other than making people who use it on pvp servers, ducks in a shooting gallery. thankfully, i am not on a pvp server

Beating the dead horse into glue here, I’ll say again that the ONLY players affected by pathfinder this time are the FEW who are having trouble with DRing.
Those who WAITED for normal flight now getting a fork jabbed into their ribcage.
EVEN IF its a new player coming in, SAME thing.
They start the expansion, get their DRing mount, start puking from motion sickness…and viola…Ion pulled an Ion again, but ONLY with them and now they have to grind for a month for renown with SIX groups lmao.

It is also Blizzard we are talking about here, I am thinking this will be the last expansion with PF being for more then just a mount or something but Blizzard has made it clear that they will pull the stupid/spiteful/etc card .
To put it another way: People need to ask “WWBD” or what would/will Blizzard do and maybe try to head it off instead of thinking what makes sense to us.

They take a position that makes literally no logical sense, so they start coming up with even worse nonsense to justify even coming into the exchange, let alone trying to remain in it without embarrassment.

It’s not just that people may not have thought it was a thing as much as opposing that legacy flight would be tied to it given DR having been available since day 1 of the expansion.
This is especially offensive for those who struggle with DR that may have altered how they played the game or even took a break until legacy flying came (we’ve known for months it was coming). In every other expansion that had PF, all players were grounded until PF became available. Nobody could fly until they unlocked PF.
Dragonflight changed this paradigm by allowing players who DR to fly without any hoops beyond the main story quests. This changes PF from the requirement to fly to the requirement to use a slower and less engaging form of flight. It’s not quite apples to oranges because technically the same feature is locked behind the same achievement, but ignoring the fact that the reason why the feature was ever sought after has been mostly removed by DR is disingenuous.
And then we consider who is likely to be most impacted by needing PF for legacy flight. For players who think DR is strictly better, they won’t use legacy flying anyway so the cost is irrelevant. For players who would use legacy flying who engaged in the existing renown for whatever reason will already be well on their way before 10.2 even releases. The group of people likely to be heavily affected by this are those who weren’t engaging with world content, which would include those who took a break from that content until legacy flying was brought to the Dragon Isles.
All this talk about whether legacy flying should exist is kind of moot because the developers have already said it’s coming, they did many months ago. All this talk about how easy PF is to get for those who can DR is not relevant to the players who limited their activities to things that didn’t require DR. The intersection of players who don’t DR and likely won’t have much progress toward PF are likely going to be those who can’t DR for some reason, which includes those who genuinely cannot.

I feel you.
My sister just got done with surgery last week on her right hand (main hand). In two months they will do her left hand. She’s been dealing with it for the past 15 years (mixture of middle school to college band, and doing hair for a living and weak genetics in our hands).
I was hoping that Blizzard would’ve implemented “normal flying” as a path or option early on in the Dragon “Riding” talent tree during launch. That would have allowed players to have both options. If people wanted Dragon “Riding” with all of the fixings that come with it, they would have that option. If people wanted Dragon “Flying”, without the “Riding” fixings, they could have that also.
Pathfinder could’ve have been something extra. Example: allowing your other flying mounts to do either Dragon “Ride” or normal Flying in Dragon Flight zones.

So, are you on the side of the new players the game was trying to appeal to or on the side of the video game snobs who think they’re better because they’ve been doing a nerdy activity longer?
And how is dragonriding not an example of changing the game to appeal to a chunk of the audience unsatisfied with what already existed, something you seem to think in other cases is a negative thing?
I didn’t come to WoW for the flight and I don’t think smashing a couple of extra buttons and getting a couple of extra visual effects on my commute to what is actually important and rewarding to me is necessarily “better,” just more elaborate. In the real world, some people drive for fun, and others don’t. Some people love dragonriding and they are welcome to it. To others it’s just a means to an end.
(Professions are more elaborate for the sake of being elaborate now, too, and I don’t think they’re better, either.)

Well that’s not entirely true. There was no regular flying from the start because they wanted dragon flying to be the big thing. Now that we are on to later releases of DF that’s being relaxed.
Same thing happened in Shadowlands. When we first got there, no flying in the basic four regions. Then when they started adding new regions we were able to fly in the first four.
It’s been that way for a while now. In several major releases we started out without regular flying, then it came along later. So what’s arrogant about this?

Fine, you get flight on day X…but everyone who did do PF gets some awesome new mount, or maybe even a set of mounts for their work.
and yeah, i realize complainers gonna complain about not getting those mounts, but they would at least appreciate not being toyed with about a mode of travel.
