Pathfinder? Again? Lession not learned

believe it when I see it…

just another dead feature when the x pac ends or special event activity.

I like dragon riding, my problem is the abusive pathfinder…

alright, just stick to dragonriding if you don’t want to do pathfinder, problem solved.

Yes of course. Disabilities don’t exist. There haven’t been a boatload of threads about it at all. There haven’t been blue posts from devs specifically telling us they’re trying to update accessibility options to help them more. Nope, none of that exists. :upside_down_face:

No one’s talking about whatever decade goalpost you’re trying to move. Poor attempt.

that’s what we are saying…

I love dragonriding and the only purpose for putting in static flight is for the people who can’t handle DR. There is zero legitimate reason to make them jump through hoops a year into the expansion when everyone else has been flying since five minutes into it.

And I am someone who has supported the rationale for Pathfinder in the past. That rationale does not exist in this expansion.

How is clicking “3” (for flap up) any different than tapping the spacebar for swim-up. If they can fly regular mounts, they can fly slow-mode DR. Not the most elegant of things, but it works fine.

If that is the case then why not just make regular flying be purchasable with gold? We already have Dragonriding, it is completely superior to regular flying in every way.

It honestly doesn’t make any sense to put a grind behind regular, inferior flying for people who have trouble using Dragonriding for whatever reason. It’s kind of gross to do so.

Pathfinder achievements started in WoD. A decade ago. At this point, they’ve been in the game as a method to unlock flight longer than not. Get over it.

And what about those who can’t dragonride and wanted to come back for normal flying? Just screw them, right?

There’s a huge difference between the slower speed, zero buttons needing pushed, stopping, landing, etc. Neurological and vision disabilities aren’t all the same.

Please try to be open minded and not act so dismissive of disabilities you don’t understand.

You’ve proven to me you didn’t read the thread or the other threads talking about the people who left because they can’t dragonride and still can’t come back.

But I expect nothing less from you. Have a good day.

I said months ago when it was obvious Ion was playing his flight hate games again that this seemed like the direction it was going to go.

I think this one finally convinced me that the man is incapable of using all the information available to do whats going to annoy the least amount of players.

edit…its VERY easy for people who are ok with DRing to insult and belittle those who are having trouble with it due to handicaps, etc. lmao.
VERY telling, however.

I dislike dragon riding for main means of travel (I can do it just fine ty, I just don’t care for it.) and it killed my interest in the expansion early so my renown is very low lol So not only did they make us wait far too long to get regular flying they’re also attaching more requirements to get it than they should given how early and easily they gave us dragon riding. There’s no reason for there to be any requirements attached to regular flying at this point. But if they must make us do something then exploration and main zone quest lines (unless they require dragon riding - can’t remember) is sufficient.

For several months I was just logging in to do trading post stuff in the old world. I went back to Dragon Isles when the Secrets event started and finally finished the last zone and finally unlocked WQs - something I normally have done within the first month. I want to use my flight form in the Dragon Isles. I’m tired of them taking it from us every freaking expansion.

There are massive threads that have been around since the beta and start of Dragonflight with people going in-depth to describe their conditions and why Dragonriding is impossible for them, even with all talents unlocked, and how there is nothing else in the game that causes them the same amount of issues.

It’s fine if you haven’t seen them or choose to ignore them, but Blizzard should not, and should take them into account when implementing regular flying as an alternative for people who have trouble with Dragonriding. Instead, they chose to ignore those threads and make people grind out another Pathfinder.

I think the pathfinder requirements are abusive…

I have zero hope that Blizzard will ever help those who have disabilities because they really believe those players are unimportant while I don’t.

I hardly log on retail anymore because the game seems less entertaining than other things I can spend time on.

I just think 15 renown for pathfinder means I will watch more anime on netflix than doing rep grinds on retail…

the part that gets me is the little ‘parity’ comment …total garbage, evidently, by the way… a while back about why they were giving out free flight in WoD and Legion now. To make it all ‘equal’ so players wouldnt choose everything but those two expansions to level in.
Why would I level where i cant fly if I can just level somewhere I can? personally I wouldnt.

Its that ‘parity’ thing that SEEMED to be indicating that maybe the obstinance with flight was starting to wain.
There is no parity when Dragonriding is free with a large fries and a coke and then normal, joke flight is a months grind from some accounts lmao.

Suggesting reasonable adaptations is part of being sensitive to disabilities. There are zero buttons required for stopping or landing with DR. You just slam into whatever is nearby and that is the stop. As long as you’re close, you can just mount up on a ground mount and get the rest of the way there without it being a big deal.

DR without the zoom buttons is not much different speed wise than expert sky swimming. Just don’t press them. I don’t. I miss “hover”, but there is no hover only target of a quest that’s required. Biggest hit is trying to land on resource nodes in funky places, but you know, you can skip those without much loss. I have to.

And yes, I have crappy vision, and regularly see a neurologist. In some ways DR is better, I don’t have to click the “autorun” button to have it coast without touching the keyboard with my poor muscle control.

Yeah I don’t understand Blizzard’s logic for implementing pathfinder here.

In previous expansions, pathfinder unlocked an upgrade.

In this expansion, it unlocks a downgrade.

So . . . why have Pathfinder at all?

Also, in previous expansions it was to make sure people experienced the zones and the stories from the ground, where they were designed to be seen.

Dragonflight zones were designed for flight - massive scale, unreachable areas, and large swathes of emptiness just like Northrend.

I do find it kind of weird that slower flying needs to be earned but I find it even more weird that so many people think so lowly of the skills of hypothetical people with disabilities that, despite being able to play WoW at all, they can’t handle dragon riding.
It’s kind of insulting.
If you don’t like dragon riding just say it.

But also, if you’ve been playing the game the Pathfinder requirements shouldn’t be that hard to earn. I get it shouldn’t HAVE to be earned but everyone is acting like this is an impossible task.

If you been playing the game’s content, it’s hardly a lock.

Also this. Dragonriding is kinda wonky but it gets the job done for what i need.

Yes but people who actually need static flight have probably not been playing the game’s content.

That’s the disconnect here.
