Probably just means that Gallywix was cut from whatever plotline the Sylvanas loyalists have next expansion.
I feel like itās a bit more important when it comes to faction leaders, even if it is the goblin leader.
It really canāt end. Sorta needs to exist for PvP to happen. Hopefully they quit it with the open conflict stuff and go back to the Cold War it was in Vanilla and BC.
The Horde and Alliance at the end of the day exist on a world with finite resources so theyāll always be clashing for that. I imagine territorial disputes will continue. Plus in the wake of BFA thereās plenty of fresh reasons to kill eachother out of sheer spite as well.
And from a meta perspective the faction system is backed into the game and was such a winning formula that most other MMORPGs copy off it to this day. Thatās why a war campaign expansion is inherently going to disappoint. There can be no total victory nor real peace. The status quo will remain as such even when the entire story seems to scream for it to be upended.
Ion already addressed this, they are ok with wm being a thing without a lick of story.
Tbh I still think the plan behind that is to consolidate servers. RP and Non-RP are the only distinctions now so itāll be easier to absorb any dying ones into a healthy one.
Plus Iāll admit my annoyance at WM aside PVP talents were a fantastic idea. Allows for direly needed abilities that might break a classās balance in PvE content. Iām not surprised itās staying in.
Probably another arena map, which isnāt a faction conflict.
IF itās Red vs. Blue, itās as faction conflicted as you can get.
Arenas arent red vs blue, and you know theres been xpacs with little to no pvp content right? I dont see why they need to tie the story when no one cares, like Ion said at blizzcon, We can have pvp for the sake of the pvp gameplay and also ignore it in the story for the stories sake.
There was little PvP content in this. There were Invasion Points I guess. But Iād say 8/10 times one faction dominated them. It was rare for me to get into fair fights. Normally it was a Red or Blue throng just rampaging through you had to either hoped passed in time or sneak around.
Outside of that we got the Azerite BG which is fun. PvP expeditions which Iāve only done for the Essence. And a couple of new arenas that are at best tangentially related to the Battle For Azeroth.
Seriously how is there not one Zandalar VS Kul Tiras BG? Like I just presumed that was a guarantee but instead thereās the Azerite one - like that was a relevant plot thread.
Ion Hazzikostas: This is an armistice. This isnāt holding hands and forgiving and forgetting. You know, thereās a large portion of the Alliance that are like, āHey, literally you just committed genocide against a portion of our group.ā Weāre not just gonna put bygones- to say bygones are bygones and move on from there.
Q: After the War campaign, the Horde seem to be at peace, but the Alliance seems to be in unrest, will this continue to be explored?
Steve Danuser: War has an impact on every culture, that not only takes part in it, but suffers in the wake of these two great powers of Azeroth, brutally fighting each other for the last couple of years. We wanted to show that in a character driven way. So people canāt come out of a war like this, as bitter and vengeful as it was, and just go back to business as usual. We fully intend for the repercussions of Battle for Azeroth to echo through our characters, our cultures, our World for a long time to come. Itās going to take a while for people to come to terms with all the repercussions of this. Even though new threats are on the horizon, even though NāZoth is coming for the world, even though the Shadowlands are out there, this war has a very personal impact on the world and weāll see that echo through Azeroth throughout the years.
When the writers eventually have the Horde start the next war in a way that outdoes the Burning of Teldrassil (as the Burning of Teldrassil outdid the destruction of Theramore), how much more over the top can it get without bumping up the gameās rating to Mature?
Edit: Also GALLYWIX INNOCENT
Maybe the impact will echo through Azeroth throughout the years so they donāt need to try to one-up Teldrassil?
Maybe itāll echo long enough for us to get the Alliance breaking the armistice and initiating conflict next time!
inb4 gallywix becomes warchief and destroys mechagon killing a bunch of gnome children.
inb4 gallywix becomes warchief and destroys mechagon
Not a huge loss.
says the gnome, but i get it. gnomes arenāt the greatest
Those things arenāt gnomes. Theyāre toasters with an ego.
Maybe make the entire expansion like the Tournament in Ice Crown.
PVP becomes personal challanges against each other in competions.
The WOW Olympics!
arent the gnomes and the garbage living together? since gelbin became king?
Lorāthemar can now die in fire for betraying Lady Liadrin.
Which is strange since that means non-goblin players will see Gallywix and then not know heās gone until the next time Horde reps get together and Gallywix is replaced by Gazlowe with no indication as to why.
To be fair, that has been blizzards style of presenting story elements since like cata. Possibly earlier. Where you wouldnāt normally play something to see the full storyline of something. It is like if you want to see the 1st half of the invasion of Gilneas, roll a worgen and do the starting zone. Want to see the 2nd half? Roll a horde toon and do Silverpine Forest.
The class order halls are another example of this. As someone already mentioned, you wouldnāt know that Amber died unless you did the rogue campaign. Or that Bolvar created a new set of four horsemen unless you did the DK campaign.
Considering that you can easily read up on these through things like wowpedia and wowhead, I can see why blizzard would take this approach.
this just means that i can console lady liadrin
I like Valeera well enough but sheās not a leader of anything. She should be in the corner holding Shalamayne or something.
