You are allow to have your view on things, but you are trying to start a fight with many people here that enjoy the RP. Our servers for Roleplayers is small compare to the Normal and PvP servers as there are also a few RPvP servers too. Yet the actions you are trying to do is not working, I am sorry to say this and will do my best to make this come out nice. If you want to bring the RP community down with your one sighted views, I am sorry to say you are loosing. Best to get out of this forum and troll someone else âORâ play nice to everyone here.
âYou can lead a Horse to water, but you canât force the Horse to drink the Water.â
Lots of threads can be positive. That doesnât mean exploiting the game to cross faction speak should be allowed. You know there are races like Blood Elves and Void Evles that can speak Thalasian as a racial. Your addon trivializes that ability and makes it useless.
I certainly hope everyone remembers that weâre here to show support, and not feed trolls! Giving into people trying to start conflict will only hurt this thread.
Remember why weâre here! Because we love RP, and we love Cross RP!
Wyrmrest Discord has 15 moderators. Many of us are balls of social anxiety and we donât RP as often as we want to, or we donât RP at all because⌠anxiety.
The other day we decided to load up Cross RP, go to a tavern in Pandaria, and just hang out for a while. The results were hilarious, we had a good time, and we got to bond as a team by having fun together and goofing off.
It was a good thing for our team and for the community we run.
I support the author of this thread and addon. The lore doesnât support not being able to talk to each other, the gameâs own NPCs donât support not being able to talk to each other, several races now donât support not being able to talk to each other, and basic logic doesnât support not being able to talk to each other (learning a foreign language is not easy but itâs certainly not impossible and especially in times of war, itâs imperative).
WoW by itself has never been sufficient to keep me playing itâother players have. The fewer players I can talk to, the more likely I am to stop playing. Simple as that.
Yes, be rude and impolite and put actions to my words so they make sense to you.
I want a roleplaying community without boundries, but at the same time I want roleplaying guilds that donât use lengthly, job application long applications to join those guilds.
This is a good step in a direction, but itâs probably not the best step in the direction that you think itâs in.
But hey, apparently Iâm just here to give my opposing opinion and get smashed on like Iâm trolling.

This game was designed to have separate factions that canât communicate. People can always faction change or make toons in the other faction if they want to communicate.

is not true. itâs been talked about in the past that during alpha vanilla, it was doable, but ppl were being diks and so blizzard did a absolute fix. now years/decades later ppl made a fix to what is strictly only a mechanic and has little to no lore base: the factions in lore all speak a universal language: so no âjust faction changeâ doesnt solve a roleplay issue.
Tournament of Ages. That was the best, by far, event that used it imo. The previous ones where you would have to add people to battle net to talk to people was not only somewhat dangerous, it really wasnât condusive to rp since you could only talk to the one person.
Any of the Succulent Tart events. My main is with them, and she performs with them as well and the Hallows End event was amazing. It was one of my favorites since I have been in it.
The Howling Owl Events. While Iâm sorta self-promoting, I really do love the events that Alaris and Roma come up with. Theyâre really well thought out, and I just really enjoy working with them and seeing as they are a cross faction coffee shop, to not have crossrp is devastating.
Iâm honestly not sure why people are getting a bit heated in here, and I really do appreciate you adding your concerns and spurring on discussion.
People are allowed to disagree with Cross RPâs purpose too, and I know that a negative opinion towards it is shared by a good handful, and those opinions are important to not ignore.
For that very reason is why I was very careful during implementation, to try and disturb as little as possible those who want the original game experience. Like this is in the header of the source file, written as soon as the project started as one of the goals:
-- * Respect for the faction divide. We don't want this to be an "exploit".
-- We're merely using the features that are offered to us, i.e. the
-- Battle.net community chat.
The faction divide is a core Warcraft principle in the sort of gameplay the devs want to present (just watch the IT MATTERS commercials), but itâs my opinion that RP realms should be a little more lenient in this regard. Cross RP isnât perfect, and the best I can do for any corner cases is to just encourage people to play nice.
Still, I give the argument that âyou can already do it nowâ with the Blizzard Group communities, but itâs just very unwieldy to do on a large scale in an RP event (and you donât get the extra goodies like RP profiles).
Honestly most of the vocalized minority-opinion Iâve seen thus far can be mitigated from the fact that this addon in particular was Opt-In and negative experiences described are hypothetical in nature.
This was a great addon that had a lot of gating to prevent abuse. If you donât like it, then thatâs fine; youâre not its target user. lol
I have enjoyed the ToA and one of my guildâs events has a heavy CrossRP use because weâre a neutral group. So getting to chat with my âguildmatesâ across the borders and meet new RPers and branch out.
I remember ToA before this addon and it was a MESS of of â____ makes some strange gesturesâ and such ooph. Just difficult to really deal with or feel immersed in. It was smooth and lovely this year.
Itâs another gripe that I wanted to mention that I have with the roleplaying community, Iâll answer that question in another thread as it will go too off-topic, and derail the thread.
Flying wasnât taken away, it was removed from expansion get-go. We were still able to fly in WoD and Legion, it required getting achievements. So again, your arguement has little validity.
