Just throwing in my absolute support for this addon into the hat. At first I was a bit wary about getting into it because I didn’t want to get too attached to something that I figured might end up on Blizzard’s chopping block. But the more I learned how it worked and how it essentially just functions as a tool for convenience, the less I saw it being an issue for things that might seem like an obvious one for cross-faction communication (harassment, throwing matches, etc).
The opt-in process the for addon makes all of these concerns pretty much impossible or at least a huge hassle, so I can’t really imagine why Blizzard would have intentionally broken it.
I first used the addon at ToA and it made it a truly unforgettable experience. Hopefully this was a mistake that can be rectified, or at the very least Blizzard can see the love and support the community has for this addon.
Here’s things you used to be able to CHOOSE TO DO:
Used to be able to choose to fly after max level. GONE
Used to be able to master loot. GONE
Used to be able to use an addon for world questing. GONE
Used to be able to organize raids for random BGs using techniques to get premades. GONE
Used to be able to level a guild for perks. GONE
So many things we used to do, and a large portion of the Blizzard supporters who were glad this stuff was removed were RPers. All I can say is I’m glad you see how the rest of us feel now. Glad your addon is gone, even though it doesn’t affect me at all and I can choose to ignore or not use it. I will still give my non-caring opinion that I’m glad it’s gone because why not?
You know how Cross RP works right? You can’t talk to the other faction unless you and the other person is invited to the same community. A Bnet one. As in only your friends and other rp partners can join. I don’t think a troll is going to go out of their way to troll that one small group rpers in that one event.
I see plenty of RP in Org, and there are plenty of people open to outside world RP, something I think should be more encouraged but I do understand your point.
Domina, I think it’s clear you’re not here for any reason other than to antagonize at this point considering how many people are here to show support, I’d drop it.
I’m here to give my input on the topic, and not to antagonize. I put as much effort into my replies as the person I’m replying too, so if it’s low-tier snapbacks, I’ll snapback.
At the end of the day, no matter how you’ll spin it. I’m against addons like these, and I do hope they get closed down.
For what it’s worth, I have had nothing but good experiences from cross-faction RP using this addon, and even without the addon. I don’t see why it still needs to be an issue today.
This game was designed to have separate factions that can’t communicate. People can always faction change or make toons in the other faction if they want to communicate.
In the spirit of keeping the conversation supportive and on track, per Tammy’s request, I put forth a question to all of you who have used Cross RP:
What’s been your favorite event (or top three, if you’ve been to a lot and can’t pick) that you’ve attended where Cross RP was in use, that would’ve otherwise not happened, or been really difficult to orchestrate without it?
It takes away from what the player wants. Some people don’t have money to “just buy a faction change.”
I used to have 2 accounts to dualbox a tauren and a nightelf at the same time, constantly having to switch between the two AT THE SAME TIME to communicate to TWO DIFFERENT groups of people.
It’s bothersome, and I don’t see the validity in your arguement. Plus look at how much positivity this thread is gaining.
I give my input, and that’s not constructive? I’m adding to the conversation, but since it’s a different opinion than the users… I’m a troll? Do you not respect a difference of opinion?
