Warlock* No changes necessary; possibly forever.
I know it’s an April Fools joke, but this hit me hard. Though it does kind of prove they are paying attention, at least enough to know what would be simultaneously amusing and irritating.

I have a very healthy sense of humor…but a jab at a portion of your players, acknowledging that you noticed how upset they are about lack of communication and recent nerfs, and then finding time to make a joke about it instead of explain anywhere why they nerfed warlock is really poor taste or timing.
I knew Blizzard was just stringing people along to save face after the scandals when they promised to be different, to communicate, and to listen. This is crumby of them.
You guys know warlocks have received more changes this expansion total than every class besides paladins and druids, right?
Right?
Yea they changed or tuned eye and soul keeper about 10 times now. Those things are always in the patch notes.
I wouldn’t know, I’m not obsessive enough to compare and contrast class changes nor consider each individually and determine why this class or that class received a nerf or buff and ask myself why this other class did or didn’t when this class here needs it more/less, ect.
I do question, however, why our class needs so much work entire skills have had to be removed and added. It couldn’t be because they were so worthless no one except the truly inept would pick them for any reason, could it? But that implies they didn’t put nearly enough thought and/or testing into said abilities or have a true idea on how they would integrate or even work with the rest of the tree.
A prime example of this? Hounds of War. The proc percentage was so bad even Blizzard openly admits they wouldn’t dare tune it to be higher, because it’s effect could be really unbalancing if it actually procs more than once in a blue moon. From the other side of it, as soon as you cast dogs it’s true worth plummets like a stone each second Dreadstalker comes closer to being off cooldown. The irony of having wasting two points in that talent only for it to proc with a single second left on it’s CD would have been as terrible as it was rage inducing.
Yet they replaced it with an equally worthless talent, Umbral Blaze, another proc based talent whose effect is absolute garbage. 15% chance for an 8k dot per HoG cast, and only to the primary target, is about as useful as an arcane mages ‘Touch of the Magi, Chrono Shift, or Supernova?’ or perhaps a Fire Mages ‘Fire Mind or Feel the Burn’? For completion sake, is it at all useful in comparison to an Ice Mages ‘Icy Veins, Splintering Cold or Deep Shatter?’
It should be, since Umbral Blaze is on the exact same row/tier as those talents are. It’s not, however, it’s absolute garbage no one will ever take. Same as Hounds of War it replaced.
Do not get me started on a compare and contrast for class Capstones and their usefulness/uselessness. The day I seriously consider comparing the likes of Inquisitor’s Gaze/Soul Harvester, Grim Harvest, or Soulburn to the ridiculousness of Temporal Warp is the day I eat my shoes. To say nothing of Shifting Power or Meteor.
TL;DR: The Warlock Talent trees were horribly planned with little to no testing seemingly being done. Since DF launch Inquisitor’s Gaze/Soul Keeper flip flopped between being buffed and then nerfed before receiving massive 100% to 270% damage increases. If that doesn’t scream the tree hadn’t received much if any testing, I don’t know what will. Several useless abilities have been removed, others moved around, and we finally received proper damage amp abilities that once implemented led to a large nerf that hit every spec except Destro, unless destro always took Sacrifice, got mauled by.
Anyway, that’s my opinion on all that.
Holy. How are you still crying. You guys are actually getting impactful changes. Thats 10x more than can be said than a third of the classes this expansion. They’re ACTUALLY trying to make you guys work lmao.
And yet all you guys can do is complain more? Jesus
Wow, you literally just zoomed to the bottom rather than read anything. Keep on trolling brother, keep on trolling.
Immutable Hatred was the only impactful talent change in demo. Everything else was either tuning or swapping a useless node for another, umbral blaze.
Destruction has just continuously received tuning. Nothing functionally changed with the tree.
Affliction has received the most tree changes and it has been largely improved this patch.
The class tree received some utility improvement but then they just added some passive damage nodes to replace talents and didn’t glance at the capstones.
Overall, warlock is in decent shape but demo/destro spec and the class tree still need love.
Edit: mage also needs assistance, but this is the warlock section.
Because the devs want to make your class work.
Literally half the classes have these right now. Warlocks are one of the few that are actually getting them addressed. Wow.
Have you never played any other specs?
Wow, they recognized a talent sucked and then attempted to change it, how dare they!
A third of the classes this expansion have received NO talent changes. Absolutely 0. Ironic that you mention mage in this paragraph. They’re changing warlocks EVERY SINGLE PATCH. lmao
What in the world are you on about. Yes the warlock capstones suck. They’ve been changing them this entire expansion, HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT. Mages have absolutely 0 choice in their capstones, did you actually mention meteor?
Changing doesn’t mean good. They literally just nerf, buff, rework, then nerf the same choice node again. It was better the first iteration when eye was a passive hour buff instead of the rng fest that currently occurs.
Agree 100% with this post. Warlock has received much love this expansion (except for destro which is in a very, very poor place), which in my opinion is entirely contradictory to this post.
How do you take a joke like that and get this upset about it.
I enjoyed the joke but i thought it shouldve been for mages. My mage friend has been crying for changes all patch, rightfully so. I wanted to troll him harder.
What is even wrong with mages? Legit quesiton here; I’ve leveled all of one to 70 (Arcane) and didn’t touch it much again after reaching cap. I remember recent posts with someone showing a chart with all three mage specs at or near the top.
Though it occurs to me I don’t actually know/remember what that chart was actually about now. Hell, for all I know it was a chart on dispels/decursing!
There really isn’t any reason why mages (and all classes/specs) can not receive simultaneous attention and changes. Telling warlock players they should be happy with what they get just because a class you play doesn’t get as much attention is asinine.
It isn’t even the nerfs or changes that warlock players are upset about the most, it is the lack of communication on any medium, here on the forums, reddit, class discord, etc.
Players are confused and Blizzard should have responsibility to answer questions and concerns. Blizzard promised to communicate, to listen and to respond to player feedback better than they have been doing in years past, yet it just seems like they have stopped doing that. People have a right to be bothered by that and Blizzard returning to their status quo.
Mages don’t have that much to complain about other than ROP being horrible to play with.
Complaining about output is different than complaining about talent interactions and those nodes specific tuning. Warlock could have all specs at the top of the charts and i would still take issue with a lot of the talents in their current state.
You know most of those changes have been knee-jerk bull? I’d rather them leave us alone than keep nerfing the crap out of us with no real reason.
I would have been funny if it was not done after a disgusting nerf to demono a spec that was not op at all.
For the past 12 years the April fools patch notes always hit me in the same order.
First it’s funny.
Then I’m like wait but these are genuine issues.
Oooh but then they’re aware of these issues, things will change!
Nothing actually changes in the next, proper patch.
Rinse repeat.
“Jesus.”
More of a Baphomet kind of crowd in these parts.
