Ever quest and think it would be so epic if my alt tank or healer could join my current toon on quests and exploration? During those times when no one wants to quest together because most are on endgame content or rping or speed lvling thru dungeons or just are anti social and don’t want to party up for stuff that can be soloed, well this is the solution.World of Warcraft is a game that supports all playstyles so if this system was added, there is nothing negative about it. so what if someone CHOOSES to quest with their alts, unlikely they were going to quest with you if this system didn’t exist.
A way to help out folks with alts would be to implement a system where you can play as one toon but invite up to 4 of your other toons to join you in a party of 5, the system would work like the AI of island expeditions or like DDO contracts followers or even bodyguards.
While questing, the community hardly ever wants to quest together so it such if u want someone to tag along for quest, not that questing is hard but for immersion n such perhaps u want to have a party exploring and questing but no real players feel like questing with you.
How the system would work
1.Reach max level of an xpac and possibly achievements for doing all quests of all zones ect.
2.Log into a toon
3. invite up to 4 of your other toons to join your party.
4. you and your alts would all be on the same quests, they’d get xp as well (from quest xp and rewards, u choose the reward for each from multiple reward quests but if the alt already has done it they get nothing extra from it)
5. This would be a major solution alternative instead of doing each toon dozens of times individually.
6. this would only work for quests and open world, not dungeons raids ect.
7. This can only be used with warmode off so there are no advantages over ganking ppl in warmode with 4 alts.
8. with this system you wouldn’t have to worry about any lvling boosting that will now start coming into play due to the removal of twink lvling
9. excellent catch-up system for both leveling alts at the same time and getting alts up to date in the same questlines.
10. this would be a completely optional system with no bonus incentives except a character and their alts can quest at the same time.
11. With this system I believe more players would actually play through every quest in the game again instead of ignoring most zones.
12. a realm can have 50 toons max and with this system a player can quest on a total of 5 toons at a time. If you did have 50 toons, you would still have to do all quests 10 times if u wanted them all to get caught up.
p.s. if you shoot this down, you better come up with some incentive for real player to literally DO QUESTS together not WQ but actual normal quests, I hardly see anyone questing together and most the community not wanting to because questing is usually seen as solo content while wq raids ect are seen as social aspects. Also consider not everyone is on the same questlines or zones as you or wants to drop what they are doing to go off and help a stranger quest.
I think this would be a really good system despite what naysayers might think. You know how people claimed garrison made the game feel anti-social even though if garrison weren’t added, that wouldn’t have changed the anti-socialness of the players but they just want to blame something else? I think they would do the same with this. They would complain that this system make wow single player even though how the game and generally people of 2019 are, the game does feel lonely, people generally do not want to tag along for questing and just other game features and I see how this system would greatly help make the game feel alive somewhat. I would definitely want to try this system out questing in a hunt party of 5 of my hunters, would greatly improve the impossible feat of finding 4 hunters my lvl in the same zone on the same quests lol.
I think he wants it mostly for in general leveling multiple alts at a time which would be useful…for getting all allied races and core races their heritages…
I want to form a group of smart AI that I can run dungeons with on my “insert new class” and learn the dungeon as I’m learning my stuff, without the fear of getting griefed by actual players.
If I could swap them out for my alts even better, great idea.
I used to multi-box during wrath so I could run dungeons as a group on my own, nothing against other people but I just enjoyed the extra challenge, I still solo current dungeons, but I can do it without a group on my pally.
So I agree this is a fun idea, hope it gains some traction here.
I discovered a few days ago that FFXIV has a system like this called command missions; it works surprisingly well in my limited testing of it. (Particularly compared to things like the Mistweaver artifact quest where Taran Zhu “tanks” by standing in one spot and using fists of fury until he collapses.)
The only thing I’d say about having alts instead of NPCs is I’d want to be able to set a general behavior profile so my alts aren’t acting out of character compared to what I have in my head.
5x the XP in a system designed to trade time for XP.
Would it have been fun if the Garrison leveled faction wide, and I could just see my Alliance alts lounging around etc. in my Garrison? Log in to Piddy and see my Warrior sitting on a log or walking to a building. Log in to him, and find Piddy flitting about. Sure that would be fun.
But, no, they’re not going to let you level 5 toons simultaneously.
Sorry.
But it would be fun to have an alt as a body guard, even if you did have to level them both up separately. That would be hoot.
Interesting idea, you’ve kinda combined the current follower/bodyguard system with SWTOR’s companion system using alts. SWTOR does the follower thing right. They can go out with you into the world and even lower teir instances/raids, do proffesions for you, including gather, run follower missions for $$, resources, gifts, etc. You can now swap freely between your Companion filling all 3 roles.
Bliz obviously really want us to spend more time doing things, being more alt friendly would achieve that… in a better way then just stretching out content.
no it would not, it would only lead more into boosting but now that they rid of twinks boosting will only be available from website which is bannable, blizz basically messed up bigtime and instead of player getting gold from it now the revinue will be completely outside blizzards reach again thru third parties.
I remember back in the WOD garrison days people brought this idea up for your alt toons to walk around your garrisons like the followers you recruited did.
Not sure how they would handle it from a programming perspective, but I do like it.
