Parsing is the culmination of MMORPG dopamine "big number" addiction

I’m not particularly sure what power user means, but yea i have 3 characters a mage a warlock and a warrior i have raided like twice with.

And one being after the 100% xp buff because it takes like 10 hours of play time to reach max level

I want blizzard to give the statistics on the disparity between accounts that have / have not been in a raid for SoD.

I’m willing to bet that most accounts have not raided, between the number of bots / gold farmers / summon spammers and people without logs to get accepted into a pug to begin with.

You also have to acknowledge that SoD has no achievements so there’s another source of game stroking that isn’t going on, the parse is filling that slot I guess.

Bliz you did a terrible job of raising other people’s kids! haha

They should have a parse log for actually doing mechanics lol

Right now if you are parsing in the 95+
Most likely you are manipulating the raid bosses in a way that wasn’t intended and bypassing actual mechanics… which I’m sure some people will argue is a viable strategy… OR you are completely just not doing mechanics and ‘sitting in fire’… which again is technically a strategy.
But really, most people if they learned these tricks and got all the same buffs etc are going to parse high.

The problem, which is what most people want addressed, is that people are being excluded from raids because they don’t do these things and their log number is not the right color.
100% positive there are people who have green parses who are just as good as the purple orange pink parsers they just don’t abuse the game to the same length.

Unfortunately there is no fix to this without hurting one community or the other.
But as someone who thinks decisions should be made considering the MAJORITY of the community, which are people who aren’t parsing… why not just implement something so WoW logs can’t be exported to these addons or websites whatever the frick it is lol
I think it’s easier for the top parsers to get over the fact that they can’t see their big orange numbers anymore than it is for the majority of players to get over the fact that they can’t participate in a core aspect of the game.
Before people tell me to get gud, I was a 97 avg parser ret pally through classic up to and including ICC 25m… and I still parse now as enhance on SOD. I enjoy parsing, but it’s definitely completelt unnecessary for the game

They actually have an execution category that uses like deaths/damage taken as a main aspect of its calculation. It’s just that ppl dont particularly care about it and its also more of a “team ranking” kinda like boss kill times.

There is so much more to just “stand on fire”, its often just optimizing kill speed because killing boss faster also makes you have to worry less about mechanics and less healing required in the end in many scenarios.

There are other sort of “annoying” aspects such as… you could run zero healers, and then every player has to wait “8 minutes” before pulling the boss, so all raiders have a fire protection potion, a frost protection potion and a nature protection potion + potion of cooldown for the pull. (this is more of a vanilla old mechanics thing since future versions of wow you cant stack multiple potions all together before the fight).

There are a lot of factors that go into doing certain strats, specially when you start pushing the envelope, doing zero healer kill attempts and trying to maximize how much you can squeeze on any given scenario.

The downside is some people try to gatekeep their own pug groups that they put together with their own time and effort, but everyone is always welcome to form their own groups and enforce their own set of rules and requirements.

you are wrong.

again i would think you are wrong on this one but neither of us have the metrics to prove our point and its all conjecture trying to pose as fact.

honestly if you hate parsing so much form your own group and take the first 9 people that whisper you.

you probably wont down all 6 bosses but at least youll be free of the parsing boogyman.

but you wont cause you know that doesnt give you the best chance to down the bosses.

instead youll cry about not getting in groups that you arent entitled to be in and try and force your way in by taking away 1 of the big things that a large part of the player base enjoys.

If people care or dont care about parses, that’s their prerogative. Just play with people who have the same ideals as yourself and you will be happier.

That’s a nice perspective but the parse culture is one of unmet expectations and demand for validation from others, this usually leads to them lashing out and attacking people who don’t run with those same weird metrics and becoming toxic.

It sets the goal pasts PAST best in slot gear and farm status on raids and who wants to make that the baseline for everyone to push for? some of us have fishing content to work on.

If you respond with like ‘k’ to people going on about their uber parsing it really gets under their skin. Even the notion of it not being 100% a good thing sets some people off.

Which rep am I farming and what makes it worth my time to farm it? Is farming that rep fun or does it feel like a grind?

My professions on my main are maxed out and have been for weeks.

I don’t enjoy PVP very much.

I already have my Mount and my epic craft. What am I trying to earn gold for? What can I do to farm gold that is enjoyable and allows me to make full use of my gear and rotation?

Because for someone who enjoys testing themselves against PVE content, there is literally no other way to do it in this phase.

How much lore do you need to digest in a 20 year old game?

honestly the shadowy figure has me intrigued  but thats about it lol.

Im so sick of it, it ruins the game for me

I am not wrong, I have met and played with those gray and green parsing players! And when they joined a group of purple orange parsers, their parses jumped enormously.

And the whole second half of your post ignored my second half completely lol.
I am a parser, I do try hard and enjoy it.

The main point is this, the game will go on and still be 100% playable without parses.
However, people quitting the game because they can’t find a group because of a NUMBER hurts the community and game.
And yes, we can all say “lead your own guild or raid” … which come on… the vast majority of the people who play don’t have the time or desire to.

And yes, I’m like 99% confident that without knowing the true numbers, the majority of the gamers DO NOT CARE FOR PARSES

then make your own group and invite the first 9 people (you do need tanks and heals so get those too) you get to whisper you and run it.

thats a them problem then.

you have the solution to your problem in making your own groups and inviting people based on whatever you want to require or not require and you refuse to do it.

i dont feel bad for you if you refuse to solve the problem.

there’s the thing though …

that’s one thing, but people are checking out everyone’s balls and being all toxic about it, if it was just about improving your performance, why is it public? and why are people using it to attack people and invalidate arguments? how is that improving you?

I understand, geek out on parses, wave that raging nerd thing around for your friends, but don’t expect everyone to want to see it and stop pecker checking lol

its got major ‘do you even lift bro’ vibes. It is not a far cry to say ‘not everyone is here for that’ stop trying to make it the norm. Calling out people for low parses who you aren’t even raiding with or anything is weird, screen your groups how you want but tone it down in public, not everyone is turbo nerding, this should be the least dire content by a mile.

My dude, are you reading my posts or are you making blanket “you” statements to the community.

I parse, I log, I have lead raids.
You are missing the point of what I am saying lol

The majority of people do not. And the majority of people do not raid lead or guild lead. It is silly from blizzards viewpoint and from a community standpoint to just say “screw them, the game was created to parse, they shouldn’t enjoy the game”
The game was created for casuals. We know this cause they wanted to combat the sweaty mmorpgs at the time where you lost all items on death and had to read literal books to understand gameplay and fights. This game was created for people to be casual and we, INCLUDING MYSELF WHO PARSES, have turned it into a sweaty gatekeeping mess

im making the blanket you to the people you are refrencing that dont use the solution given .

the people you bring up who dont have the time or will to do so just somehow feel entitled to other peoples time and will.

thats who im referring to.

If you want to play with people who parse, join a guild
