Playing through Remix reminds me on how Blizzard really missed an opportunity with the Paragons. They were so dang cool, and for what? Just to be cut down by the heroes?
Maybe we’ll meet them again?
“Kil’ruk the Wind-Reaver yells: Well fought Wakener. We will meet again…”
Bug races are used for Old God stories, they aren’t really typically the ‘good’ guys in a story. If Blizz brings them back it will be as fuel for another Old god story line. It’s kind of their thing.
I’d like to hop that when we see the Nerubian empire next expansion (Those that consider worship of the old ones & the void as heretical) — That there’s a few dissenters of the other Aqir races amongst them, and that we get to surprisingly see Kil’Ruk the Wind-Reaver there
Yeah.
I thought it was the coolest thing awakening these old legendary Warriors preserved because of their skills, being able to have their aid out in the open world and learning about their story.
Just for them to suddenly be all Yaaaas-harj Queen slay
Dude, are you kidding? The way they handled the Paragons is one of the best things they ever did! You played through their rep grind and stories, got exalted with them, you felt like you earned their trust. Then they hit you with the ominous warning that if their god ever returned they’d be right there beside them, and we better watch ourselves. And you think, “Well, i guess that’s a problem for future generations to worry about. But at least the Paragons and I are buddies.”
When we first saw the list of boss fights for SoO I was not alone in being shocked and taken aback. Of course most of the discussion was about us having to kill Nazgrim, but lots of people (at least those who had bothered with the Klaxxi rep) were just as shocked about fighting the Paragons. But it made sense. They warned us. Where else would they stand in that fight?
The Klaxxi didn’t turn on us or backstab us. They very clearly pulled me aside at the end of their rep grind and let me know that when it does go down we’re not on the same team.
Also they’re horrendous bug-monsters that champion a nightmarish social-darwinistic society.
Also their philosophy is nonsense. Ignoring the fact that these mantid all spawn from a single empress and are themselves not reproductive, so winnowing “weak” genetics from the population is meaningless. War kills the very brave, the very strong and the obedient.
not unless they’re brought back from the dead as one for darn sure gets slaughtered by the voice of the empress and the rest I slaughtered with a raid group last night… so…they’re dead and it’s such a waste as they had potential only for it to be thrown out with the trash
