Paragons of the Klaxxi

I remember back in the day, I was so proud to get exalted with them, then they did the old one chat, and I thought nothing of it. Months or so later doing SoO, and I’m killin by buddies. Felt sad.

I should really find the Kalaxxi story online because im burning theough it. But that zone is really beautiful.

The Klaxxi that hang out together are the cliquey Killaxi… is this the Dad joke thread?

I recomend you read it, or get a mod that makes quest dialog more digestible (storymode, I think is one?) It’s some of Blizzard’s better work.

The Klaxxi exalted quest was so good, I remember being just gaping at my monitor the first time I saw it :joy: It was amazing.

I thought i heard they banned addons that vocalized the quest dialog

Yep. We were never friends. We briefly united against a common enemy, at the conclusion of which they outright told us that if Y’shaarj ever returned, we would be on oppoiste sides.

It was such a disservice to Prophet Zul to turn him to blood slug worshipper. He was far more interesting as individual with his own ambitions. I think much more potential could’ve been squeezed out of him.

Besides Zul likely knew the history, and man of his intellect should’ve known that under Old Gods nobody rules. I also found it heinous that he would sabotage his own people and make alliances with their mortal enemies to take Zandalari down. That doesn’t really match the visage of Zandalari supremacist.

Meh, they’re a good bad guy and pixels to kill. Never really thought of them as ”cool” though.

I love the Klaxxi and the mantid. Such a good story line. Like many I was shocked at the end of the quest and the story. After the paragon fight, which was chaotic back in the day I sat back and accepted what happened. I liked it.

Forget high elves, blizzard, I want to play as a cool mantis bug person. Mantid for playable race.

So much about SoO as a Horde player hits the right buttons for me. Battling against Nazgrim, the Klaxxi, and Garrosh himself is an impactful showdown between yourself and someone who you’ve been allied with for literally years (Klaxxi kinda.) It is high drama at its best.

I remember getting chills the first time I heard “I shall carry you one last time, Wakener… to your doom!” Kil’ruk was my boy. And now he is dead.

I think the story is better off that way. It would weaken my memory of that time if the paragons returned, and it would come off as lazy and tired.

That was indeed tragic. They were really well-written characters. Some of the best writing we’ve seen from Blizzard in a long time.

Damn you Gods, you turned our homies against us!

I know right? He would’ve been an amazing Neutral or Neutral Enemy character, i was hoping him and Rastakhan were gonna end up as Horde characters myself when BFA was coming out, really sad that didn’t pan out.

The chills in SoO happened to me as you head to the Clef of Shadows…Seeing the warlock trainers hung up and burning? You might miss them if you don’t look but man…Chills.

There’s also the bit where the Kor’kron are preparing to execute the Horde pandaren representative, Ji Firepaw. If you wait too long to kill the trash before Dark Shaman, he gets his head cut off.

Woah. That’s dark.

The detail in that raid was pretty amazing. Such as the goblins used as target practice, and some already killed with knives.

The warlocks dead who tried to defend citizens.

Nazgrim dying was also pretty awful. Loyal to the Horde, and I can respect that.

For all his power & muster, he became a … Pseudo old-god worshiper?
Not even really a legit one, but some abomination thing with no real end-goal aside from withering everything away & eating it.

If he were to still be a villain, it would’ve been far better to see Zul backstab G’huun, grab something of his (like his heart or something) for a ritual to summon “The TRUE blood god!” – In bringing about Hakkar! :star_struck: … But alas, it was just some titan experiment BS instead :unamused:

I just think entire blood troll invasion and G’huun was bollocks. I’d rather if we had proper Zandalari zone that was simply hit by Cataclysm and that is under Kul’Tiran invasion (the ships that Katherine lost, ye they didn’t disappear, they used oportiunity to attack weakened Zandalar to claim sea dominance)

And for a first raid I’d rather have something similar to Caverns of Time, where we visit Academy for Chroniclers and Scholars and we learn about ancient troll history. And for a raid to have Aquir Wars and for us to see how Trolls defeated them. It would match b etter overarching story if they wanted to end with black empire.
If they wanted Titan facility - then Kul’Tiras would be a better place, since it had Mechagnomes in there.

As for Zul I’d rather have have a political drama, get him actually confronted on his past actions and see him elaborate more on his reasoning behind it.
He could still eventually be revealed to be traitor, or he could be imprisoned for causing trouble, or he could be in a way excused but at the same time punished for his failures.

There were many ways to carry this story, and they picked the worst option possible. It didn’t really match his ambitions, and his Cataclysm speech. And I find it super strange that troll supremacist would ally with Azshara of all people. Like… come on.

We will meet again Kil’ruk.

I didn’t mind the Blood Trolls so much, however I hated how they depicted:

  • “Oh, the other trolls blood magics & even the Gurabashi’s blood magic is nothing compared to the Blood Trolls!”

Because it just kind of trashes on the other trolls & the overall old lore in an attempt to build up the current story, which I always loathe with a bitter hatred when they do such ordeals. Shadowlands did that a lot, and I despised it.

Although, aside from that — The beings of the void using G’huun as an opportunity to push their ambitions was understandable, and I didn’t mind so much the other lore around & about.

:diamonds: As I said, I would’ve much rather Zul had backstabbed G’huun to summon a true loa, as it would had been far more fitting — Then have the culmination of various factions he’s had political ties with over the years unite alongside him and as you mentioned confront him upon his past actions & tie the knot …

  • Like you said however, there’s many ways they could’ve done the story better but overall it wasn’t something that irked me a whole lot – Since the damage to the story overall was minimal, but merely disappointing. :face_exhaling:

They could’ve kept the story the overall same save except the Uldir raid & just had Zul rock up at the end “Surpise, bet you thought you saw the last of me!” – grab what he needed & sparked off the next part of the storyline.

Heck they could’ve actually had something in the Dazar’alor raid where there was going to be an even worse thing at the end, like the Tidesages summoning a Tsunami to push back the Zandalari & Horde to aid their escape and further diminish those forces — Only to Zul have an heroic entrance, give dialog to what he was using G’huun for & have Hakkar appear behind him, nuke the Alliance’s plot and peace out: “Zandalar fo’evah! … By any means necessary.”

However as I mentioned in my thread you saw – Overall I rather loved the story playout of the Dazar’alor raid regardless, so :person_shrugging: Ye …
