I rolled a Belf Pally and read on some sites that Righteous Defense can target players and enemies, it doesn’t look it can target now that I have it. Did Blizz leave the enemies part of Classic TBC?
You cast it on the friendly with aggro because weird old logic. With a macro, you don’t have to interrupt your tanking and targeting of mobs though.

I love that it’s an “untargetted target” spell. Can keep the boss on me while I taunt adds over.
I have bubble, RD, LoH, freedom in my healing addon as a secondary profile for tanking.
it use to work only on players and you’d have to make a macro in order to use it on mobs, but blizz eventually patched it so you can use it on either without the macro
