Paladins, everywhere

Every group is like:

Prot pal,
Hpal,
a ret or TWO.

Is this fun?

Prot and ret are totally busted, but suddenly seeing tons of hpal as well- (maybe so get invites?)

Yeah. Being a paladin now feels real good. Very respectable damage, good tanky-ness, great utility and excellent Hero Talents to choose from (from PvE PoV).

No doubt, we’re in a good spot.

Ok, I read further down in the other comments and discovered you were talking about PVE, now it makes sense to me.

From me, it’s always from a PvP PoV (again, I used to love BG’s; I need to try it out again).

I’ve always stated that PvP is a totally different animal that I fully acknowledged which should be addressed. But I’ll leave that to better qualified people like yourself.

I don’t think my opinions matter more than anyone else’s, if they are shared without name calling I’ll listen intently. We likely have similar experiences if we do the same content, but how that experience makes us feel can be different and thats ok.

From my PoV, after dropping my 3+ year Ret main for MM halfway through DF, paladins seem just as vulnerable in TWW during Forbearance and easy to control the movement of as DF. The core issues of losing 5 min CD defensives with ranged instant or fast casted dispells, while lacking a dispell of their own for enemies, and no MS, Disarm, or instant mobility wasn’t quite made up for with a 20% stun duration reduction talent no Ret can pick without sacrificing damage talents, and the Divine Shield talent to make it ignore Forbearance is cool, but it is still dispelled. After all my time playing Ret I dont know of anything it can do great in a BG setting that is not countered by focusing the Ret for fear it will use utility on teammates.

While in Raid and M+ Ret is doing very well, I can be happy for PVE Rets still.

Ummm no ret is fine exactly where it is

Only real thing a ret needs in pvp is a heal cut

Where exactly does it need anymore work?

Prot was undertuned on release and in classic blizzard fashion they buffed it too much lol

It 100% needs work. Damage needs to be redistributed through out the spec so finishers has more teeth.

We also need a gap closer, as all the mechanics that matters for us (the things that has teeth per se) is melee.

For ret

Gap closing, hp generation over capping, lack of finishers doing enough damage due mechanics/builders doing too much damage, lack of vaiation of hero specs (both is DoT baised and activates via wake, with the only real difference being one has a 5hp finisher.) The ret spec needs re-organizing since the class changes effected them majorly.

Holy has a hard time identifying as melee or ranged and have constant balance issues.

Prot being weak on resource generation with blizz confused what they want to do with it.

I just wish theyd take a bit of that development time that is put intoo the 5th pally rework and finally just fix brew.
They have been in such a sad way for years now. Only time they ever even become sonewhat good is because of a teir set.

New flash, they aren’t.

The only metric on which they destroy every other spec is popularity.
They are mid on all the raid fight and very steady in M+ but they aren’t busted.
Don’t get me wrong, its versatility is an asset but its just that, solid all around but not excelling in anything.

Prot still has gameplay issue but they turned to tuning nob to 11 so here it is.

Yeah they need to just get rid of blessed hammer and give Prot a version of Crusading Strikes

We need to be s tier across the board. Obviously.

Paladin is one of the easier classes so if you want to just chill and clear some keys, they might be the most chill option

I main DH but Ret is my second favorite, it’s defensively better and does more damage (which imo it shouldn’t) since it’s a hybrid. But it’s really well made and not OP I’d say it’s A tier and too much more you’ll just see nerfs  but if I could buff anything it would be our self heal flash of light, the talent that makes it instant cast should increase it’s healing by 30% or more. Those 300ks are pretty lame, and the only other change I’d like to see is the talent divine spurs to just baseline reduce the CD of Divine Steed by 15secs with no punishment added , otherwise it’s a useless talent imo.

Former Casual Guild raid lead here. Usually we don’t get AOTC… that kind of casual. Still doing some raid leading for the same guild.

Even at our level it is extremely noticeable how Over Powered Pally really have been since last season.

Last 2 seasons (Dragonflight 4 and TWW 1) we’ve had countless Pallys. At the start of season 1 our raid roster had 9 sign up. It was all of our raid DPS basically.

Some also bring a large ego when out performing a lot of the group too.

At the top level things might be different. But at the bottom, my god they are broken.
