I know some may agree or disagree, but I originally rolled on Faerlina like many players did. After 10000 person queue times, decided to take the heartseeker transfer as the realm was balanced for about a week and a half, until the last round of transfers came up again, and now I’m on a 70/30 balanced server.
With how crazy all of these server transfers have been, I wonder if it would be a solid idea to implement paid server transfers on a 90 day cooldown to select servers that aren’t full.
Yes as soon as Blizzard wants to make server ‘balance’ worse they will open up paid transfers.
Until then you will need to live with your decision on transferring or rerolling.
I’d be more concerned with the issue that happened with the recent free transfer.
Lot’s of Alliance flocked to one server and it’s left their fleeted servers lacking desperately in ratio.
The server they moved to may have an issue or it got balanced out, either way, transfers can cause massive imbalances especially when pvp will be greatly impacted by the servers ratio and player base.
which is fine as that is what the players on those servers want (based on their actions and past results of free and paid server transfers)
While people do come to the forums and say they want balanced PvP servers they are the vocal very small minority.
It’s like rain on your wedding day !!!
Been playing and posting on the forums since 2006 and every time they did free transfers to help with queue times and when paid transfers came out it caused faction ‘balance’ to get worse because players on PvP servers moved to servers where they were in the majority on that server by faction. Players on PvP servers have shown (by action not words) that they want to be part of a dominate faction.
I mean, I can’t disagree with ya on the latter, but I feel transfers in general led to a decay of some servers.
Would it not be easier to pound some figures at Blizz and see who is represented on low pop servers and merge them?
Clearly that’s the thought of a guy who has no tech experience other than basic around the house stuff and imagine it’s not as simple as that, but giving the player an option to make it worse seems like was a bad choice.
The fix would be to not let both factions transfer and do it free. Bliz would have to close their ears to the whining though. Why let the 30% transfer when it’s part of the 70% that needs to go?
Oh I agree there is no easy solution here. Unfortunately Blizzard (rightly) has chosen the stance they won’t tell people what faction to play on what server.
Transfers cannot work for balance as that is not their intention.
Faction balance is a pipe dream. Unless blizz starts trying to force players to choose a faction they don’t want to play(we all know where that leads). There is no way to balance the factions.
The factions themselves will always cause this imbalance.
If the “faction war” was in the background and everyone in the world was attackable, instead of segregating the playerbase into 2 factions. Balance would have never been an issue.
Every single cross realm bandaid, connected realms, warmode, merc mode, and ofc the free gear/xp incentive would not have ever even been needed. Now their talking about AI in BG’s? Come on man. Player vs. Player. Not player vs. AI!
It all goes back to the faction segregation.
No that does not mean im asking for the barrier to be removed in classic but after watching this for 15 years. I will say that is the root cause of these balance issues.
