I understand that theres a 90 day cooldown when I changed my name. I wanted to transfer the name to my other battle.net that is not merged.
After I paid for the name change I made a level 1 with the name I desire on my the same battle.net.
If I delete the level 1 will the cooldown still be 90 days or will it now be 30 days because it’s being deleted again instead of name changed.
Does anyone understand my question? I’ve asked CS and for some reason they fail to explain it to me in a way that I understand or they are just automated messages with the classic responses:
“there is a 90 day cooldown on paid name changes.”
This is more of a niche situation that I wanted to get answered. I don’t know if I need to be tracking a 30 day cooldown or a 90 day cooldown by deleting this level 1.
There are two different cooldowns. The first is with names changed through a character service like a Name change, Faction or Race Change. Those are 90 days, and the name will only be available for use on that realm by that Battle.net account.
The second is when a character that is level 30 and above is deleted from a server. Deletion counts as just simple character deletion or by transferring a character to another realm or Battle.net account. That puts the name on a 30 day cooldown, where only that Battle.net account can use the name on realm where the character existed.
Characters level 1-29 do not reserve names if they are deleted. Also, no other action removes an active cooldown. So you wouldn’t be able to use a name change, thus providing a 90 day cooldown and then create a level 1 and deleting that to remove that cooldown.
I hope that is clearer, but please let us know.

I guess I’m struggling to phrase this correctly. I just want to time this right and be online during the correct hours. I don’t know if I ruined the 90 day cooldown by creating a level 1 with the name and then deleting it on a different day.
Did me creating a level 1 with that name alter the cooldown at all? if I were to keep the level 1 with the name I want on my other battle.net for 90 days…If I delete the level 1 on the 91st day will it be release instant for me to take on my other account?
Does the 90 day cooldown change at all when I recreated a level 1 with the same name that had a cooldown. Will there be a new timer when I delete this level 1 or will it share the 90 day cooldown from my 120 who had that same name.
When I delete this level 1 character with the name I want on my other battle.net…will there be any cooldown that starts the day I delete it or was it ticking from the name change I paid for on my level 120.
Sorry I’m rephrasing questions in different ways so maybe one is understood.
I’m self diagnosing myself via this post and I might be dyslexic. Lol.
Deleting a level 1-29 means no cool down, anyone can use it right away.
Deleting a level 30 locks the name to the account for 30 days.
There’s no 90 day lock in the scenario you presented.

Even though I paid for a name change? and switched the name to a level 1 then deleted that
Then paying for the name change should lock the name, forgive the confusion.
It is a timer that starts after the name change though, not the character deletion. Think 89 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, 59 seconds after your transaction goes through.

So by me panicking and creating that level 1 with the name i didnt want “sniped” while asking these questions, that didn’t infringe on the 90 day cooldown? When I delete this level 1 (good name) should I still be counting the days from when I changed the name via Services in the shop.
actual last question
The name would still be locked to the account because of the name change. You could make the level 1 on the same account because of this, but your second account would likely show the name is locked for 90 days.

On day 90, I delete this level 1 with the name and it will be instant, correct?
p.s. I appreciate you ty
You can delete the level 1 character now if you like. The name is still locked for exactly 90 days from the moment of the paid name change.
Creating a new character has no impact on any cooldowns. As long as they are under level 29, they won’t create a cooldown, unless you use a character service to change their name.
No, the 90 day cooldown is based on when the character service is performed.
It was ticking down from when the character service name change was performed.
No. The level one has no impact on any cooldown.
On day 90, to the minute from when the character service was used, the cooldown will expire and the name will be available to everyone on that realm, assuming you don’t have a character already claiming the name.
If you do, deleting that character, if it is under level 30, will free up the name making it available for use by any other account/user.

It would be a good idea to do this. That would reserve the name for you. That way if you aren’t online exactly 90 days from the name-change no one would be able to get the name before you had a chance.
