I invite and support you to do so. Make sure to host it on GitHub and send me the repo info so I can pull some of your add-ons.
I am fully supportive of this endeavor.
Again, is that just overlay, like discord overlay settings? Or can you actually confirm that is AD OVERLAY that setting is for? My understanding is the ads arenât active in the beta, so it is an unknown.
Without the overlay turned on there wonât be ads except in the app. There isnât going to be a separate overlay for ads.
So youâve enabled the overlay, seen an ad overlay, then used the setting to remove it afterward?
The only overlay is under Settings - Hotkeys & Overlays - World of Warcraft. With it turned off nothing appears ingame.
If enough people will not use OW and stop support via patreon etc, cuz they donât like OW, then no, they do not get paid or paid very little from OW.
That might happen⌠but I donât really think it will. Iâve been using the CurseForge app for 2 days and so far I like it much much better than the Twitch app. It reminds me of the original Curse Client which I used for years and it will have the same type of subscription option to be ad free.
What is a good site for downloading manual addons? Itâs been some years since I have. Thanks in advance.
- CurseForge https://www.curseforge.com/
- WoW Interface https://www.wowinterface.com/
- Or a respected modâs own website/github
You will still be able to use the CurseForge site to manually download your mods. Overwolf is not taking that away or restricting it in any way.
Why on earth hasnât Blizzard just made their own addon manager and only allowed addons that are installed through that manager?
Thank you.
Itâs not that at all, itâs just when I downloaded it the program felt too crowded and it didnât have the mods yet lol. Hearing about the ads though is a real deal breaker.
Why would they pay to do something thatâs already being done for free.
Iâm guessing you just downloaded the Overwolf app. You donât get addons from that you get addons from the CurseForge app.
Blizzard could easily monetize their own addon manager, even if itâs just by placing ads for their other games and cash shop items in the manager.
They have enough headaches to deal with without taking on one they donât have to. Also with all the bugs and problems with the game I wouldnât trust them to do it right.
Nexus (for Fallout/Skyrim and other mods) has been able to handle it for years with a pretty simple client and an extremely basic sub model, with none of the BS that surrounds Overwolf. Downloads are limited without a sub, but you can still do everything for free without being bombarded with ads.
Really, Nexus and Vortex wouldnât be a bad option for hosting WoW mods as an alternative if they were up for it.
Overwolf can practice self love sideways for all I care. I wonât use their client and Iâll quit using mods hosted there before I use their sites. Theyâre one of the worst examples out there for what they do, and their âweâre doing it for the mod authorsâ garbage is just plain lying.
What is wrong with you?

No. I donât think so anyways. Personally speaking, outside of Bethesda Games, no game i ever modded or put addons in needed to be in a specific order. I canât say the same for everybody elseâs experience.
I think there are a few that have dependencies, but those are the exceptions.
As for games where load order is important, that is Rimworld. Good lord, if you donât run those in the correct order.

Well yes, there are mods that depend on another mod or things like that. As for them being exceptions, well that depends on which game were talking about here.

Mmm, i mean thatâs one example of a game (becides Bethesda games) needing mods to be ordered.
The only games that can somewhat has a load order would be GTA SA (Along with VC and 3), but only if you installed modloader on there and decided to change the priority numbers on the mods.

Really, i wouldnât see anything wrong with that, considering Nexus already has a page for WoW. (Though that page is for private server stuff, so Nexus might need a page for official WoW.)
