key words being: for now which could mean until they implement CSRF

That wouldn’t be a problem since the old Curse Client had a Premium subscription for years.

Yes I know. I already said that. But they aren’t right now in order to see if they can work something out.

Stating they’re shutting down apps right now is false information. Which is what I was clearing up.

it was also simple enough to block curse client ads with 1 line in hosts, couldnt do much with the bloat in twitch

and all im saying is its obfuscation until they get CSRF and possibly even magnet links going

It ain’t so. OP is tossing out false information.

Here is Overwolf debunking the OP.

You seem to have more information. My post wasn’t false based on the information provided to the general public by Overwolf.

nice astroturfing, linking a story by overwolf that says overwolf isnt going to be up to any shenanigans

The point is that Overwolf is defending themselves from the API allegations in this thread. If you want to accuse them of being liars, go ahead. Only time will tell. I’m using Ajour and it hasn’t been shut down yet.

Link has been updated since it was originally posted. Too be honest, I don’t actually care what Overwolf does with their property (curseforge) that is up to them. They will either meet the community’s needs or destroy it. I don’t have any stakes in the matter. I get my addons from alternative sites with their own management apps.

well according to the creator of wowup, they are shutting down tho

We all knew from the beginning that one day the powers that be would be coming one day. That day was yesterday. Yesterday I was approached by a member of the Overwolf team who essentially told me I could either join them by embedding WowUp into their framework or stop using the CurseForge API.

Just stop already and read the update.

Overwolf: Part 2

Today I had a meeting with the Overwolf team. Despite many theories swirling around it was not as eventful as you might have hoped. The call went fine. Options for continuing to use the CF API were discussed for a majority of the meeting in hopes of finding a way to coexist while continuing to benefit the authors. After all, helping authors continue to create things that we like should be the main goal of each application. No concrete solutions were decided on during said meeting so hopefully we will continue communicating for the benefit of the community.

Ok now what?

One takeaway from the meeting was that nothing is changing yet. So, for now it’s business as usual continuing to provide a client that does what you need. We’ve gotten a lot of suggestions and requests over the last few days that we’re in the process of organizing so we can get those out to the 2.0 alpha as soon as possible.

As always feel free to hit me up on discord

u do know overwolf ownership doesn’t take effect till the 20th right? so of course nothing changes yet. but already throwing their weight around…trust them all u want. I will not

You don’t need every single update. Addons will tell you when they’re too out of date and need to be updated. When that happens, just check all your addons, it takes literally 5 minutes max.

Absolutely none.of that says they’re shutting down. You failed to comprehend what was said.

Vague and not the actual quote of what Overwolf said.

Meaning they could join up or voluntarily not use the API. It was a veiled threat. Nowhere did Overwolf say “you can’t use the API.” They asked Wowup to voluntarily stop using it.

So you’re incorrect.
