Wow isn’t about connections and rpg elements anymore. It’s about XP/hour and efficiency. Tanks who solo the instances probably feel like they’re doing you a favor, and blizzard has conditioned them to do so.
I love this well done!
why aren’t healers and dps just staying with the tank?
if the tank is pulling everything to the first boss, follow him. don’t stand at the entrance spamming aoe and then wondering why you pulled threat.
this has been a thing for as long as i’ve been playing. my not-super-geared brewmaster in mop could easily solo heroics for valor. it’s not a new “m+ esport gogogo” thing.
weekly dungeon quests, that’s why I do them. (fastest Q)
and personally enjoy when you get people who grossly out-gear the dungeon
Very true. Blizzard created this hostile environment. Players are to blame for how they behave, but its hard to ignore the conditioning by the game maker.
+1
as above, bliz creates and conditions the behavior…and then REWARDS it. lmao.
This has been going on for years.
I remember coming back to the game during MoP and was levelling a healer.
The Paladin tank just ran through, basically soloed the whole thing and I had trouble keeping myself and the party up because the mobs had AoE damage hitting the whole party. Which is fine when it’s just one group but becomes too much to handle when you have 4 or 5 packs at once.
It was a nightmare.
If that were true, less complaints would likely be the result.
ive seen these guys leave a wake of crap that NEWER players dont know how to handle…so 3 or four players wipe.
The tank is so self absorbed he just keeps running leaving four players to have to deal with anything he failed to keep aggroed.
It was bad enough when tanks only had to fart loudly to get and hold the crap.
wrong. Tanks ASSUME everything they hit is following them. Just as soon as the healer has to heal someone he is going to take the heat instead.
Ive had to stop healing a number of times just to get the crap off me and nearly let other players die. A choice ends up having to be made…me die and they die…or let them die and hopefully I stay alive and Rez.
all this because Rushy Rusherton is ONLY there in GROUP content for himself.
again…there are NEW PLAYERS in many of these runs…tanks dont seem to take that into consideration…well, why would they given the behavior in the first place.
The group can kick the tank if they w like the way he is playing, if they dont it means rhe majority are okay with it. Working as intended.
I wish they’d remove the reward to remind everyone why it had to be added in the first place.
If the tank is that strong, how are the dps dying? If he’s so powerful he doesn’t need a healer then he for damn sure should be holding aggro too.
I can’t help but think that if ‘Tanks’ and ‘DPS’ were switched around in this case, the conversation in this thread would be entirely different.
May have something to do with lots of threads on DPS initiating pulls and running ahead constantly. Weird to see the shoe on the other foot. What next, healers pulling and running ahead of the pack? THAT would be funny.
There is something to be said for creating a learning environment where new players see how dungeon roles work. That should really happen in leveling dungeons, and they did try it for a while but people hated having to do mechanics and complained enough that Blizz gave up and tuned everything back down such that nobody has to pay attention.
Most of the complaining in this thread is from people that haven’t figured out that you should watch what the tank is doing before you just start attacking everything. They should have learned that before they got to “end game”, but they’re learning it now maybe?(or maybe the complaints mean they aren’t learning?)
I dont know if anything has changed recently, but I know if tankypoo wasnt doing his jobI could strip crap off him just by healing.
ive watched a mob literally turn and run THRU DPS players from the tank directly at me when Ive been healing before. Very unnerving when that happens lol, and Im one that doesnt take the game very seriously.
I usually tell them in advance that i will pull aggressively with my tank (i run low dungeons to get a calling out of the way if the WQs are annoying)
I rarely if ever get complains, since i made it easier and faster for the rest of the team.
I can hold agroo fairly well (even more if im the only one overgeared)
Theres also knowing what you can pull and what you cant, since combining some pulls can easily wipe the team. (largely due to enemies that dont focus on the tank, like the ranged or too many stuns.)
There were times in Legion when I would run an overgeared MW for mats thru heroics and it’d be new players and Id have to ‘tank’ and heal at the same time because they were very inexperienced.
I enjoyed it because the newer players were able to learn to play without some jerk ruining it for them. Im just there to DE my drops for crafting.
It was a nice time when it happened.
There is a lot of damage that is directed towards dps.
Here is what can kill a dps player in ToP even if the tank keeps threat at all times.
Dessia fixates random targets, Sath put an aoe on random player, Xira ambushes random players.
Rancid gasbags do an aoe
Gorechop has hooks and leftovers that typically target dps and leave pools.
All of the minibosses of Xav have something that hits dps.
Shackled Soul slows dps down so they get hit by pools.
Portal Guardians and soul binders do an aoe
Darkspeakers auto kill with the tornado
Bonereavers have an aoe and put a pool under your feet.
Kul’tharok seems to do more damage to dps then he does to a tank.
this isnt on the tank tho
this isnt also on the tank, plus xira has been removed
also not a tank issue…
Not saying it is on the tank. He asked how dps could die if they run with an over geared tank. These are the way that they die.
Retired.
Semper Fi!
this is the first time i remember seeing someone complain about this. so i guess it isn’t much of an issue then.
