The people that chose Herod have made this situation. They created a false hysteria and a bigoted atmosphere and now have the worse community and terrible queue times. Seems to me like karma. Hopefully the cancer stays put.
Exactly. They had previously stated they had more realms ready to push live as needed; they had the foresight to be cautious and try to avoid having underpopulated realms in the future by releasing too many at launch. People saying they werenât ready for the hype and/or love for Classic are missing the mark here, although I understand their love and passion for the project, as I checked-out shortly before the changes made with Cataclysm and going back has been a longtime coming for me.
No. Whitemane was not listed in the most recent blue post. Clearly, something has been settled there to make Blizzard no longer concerned. The last post was directed solely at Herod, which is why I was addressing only Herodâs population issue. I donât want to âscrewâ anyone.
Itâs way more than the names. That has been explained over and over again in the many, many, ridiculously many threads.
No, I did nothing of the sort. We chose Herod about 3 hours before name reservation started, and we chose it because it was least likely to have crowds of streamer fans on it. We also chose it (between Herod and Whitemane) because a lot of organized guilds were talking about choosing it to make a really lively PvP environment. Those were the reasons we chose it. Most of our guild is horrified by the attitude and tone of the chat on the Herod Discord. The rest havenât joined that Discord.
We didnât cause anything. We showed up on name day. We came prepared. We reserved our names and planted our guild. We didnât dogpile anything. We were in there in the first second it opened. We didnât have any idea how it was going to flood over. We only knew that it would be a high population like Whitemane and it would not be dominated by streamer traffic.
I didnât create any false hysteria. I planned ahead. I showed up. I made my toons. I organized my discord and contacted friends who were waiting to find out when and where weâd play.
And now I have to either dump all that in the garbage and get in line behind people who didnât show up for name dayâŚand just lose everything we already organized. OrâŚI have to wait in 10-hour queues. How on earth does that make me karma or cancer? Think, man. Think before you speak. Weâre people. Tens of thousands of people who are just as excited and happy to play this game as you are.
Thatâs definitely going to be a thing with people that donât want to subscribe before it launches. Those people should think as to what day they want to wait, because Iâm guessing on launch day the billing page will start timing out as wellâŚ
You couldnât be further from the truth. But sure, you go right ahead and just keep believing this nonsense.
I keep seeing 3 reasons why people dont move to stalagg
1> stupid server name
2> I may lose my character name
3> itâs hard to get others to give up their character names.
almost every solution is open a new server with several days notice and guarantee Harod transfers only so people can keep their names.
it does seem to be all about names.
Then read more before you decide what tens of thousands of people you donât know âdeserve.â
so what exactly is stopping you and your friends from changing servers off Harod now? you didnât know it was being opened fine I get that but the server is sitting there, Blizz has warned about Harod and queues, why not move now? people say itâs not about names but there is literally nothing stopping you from coordinating with your friends and moving to stalagg server today or tomorrow.
Itâs too much work to convince everyone to move now, plus a lot of players want to play on the most populated server as sort of a long term security.
That said, we all need 2 realms for ally/horde anyway, so maybe upping the player character creation limit from 3-5 is the proper solution as it would allow people to spread out but also keep their choice of server if they really prefer Herod
or I donât know⌠wait till launch and roll on the other servers 50 char cap after launch you know. no need for additional name reserves.
and yetâŚHerodâs still the biggest server by farâŚ
Which is certainly an option man, and a very realistic one. Iâm just sayinâ blizz could do themselves a favor to encourage people moving by upping the limit by just 1-2
Although I am not a fan of adding more servers if you really want players to move off Herod and other highly populated realms to a new one the best way to do it would be to add a CST realm.
I donât see the need for more East or West coast realms but adding a central timezone wouldnât be the worst thing to happen.
I appreciate that, but honestly upping the limit is not going to make people leave they will still keep their reserved names on Harod too and thus show an inflated population. if they want to move to another server they need to remove their reserve off Harod so the counts are as accurate as possible (not perfect but balpark)
âThere are a lot of players currently on Herod and we want Stalagg to fill up before we open any new PvP realms. This is so that player population.â
This, to me, is proof, that blizz has many more realms they can add as needed. And if ppl on full realms want long cues to be part of their game play, they will have long cues!
it wouldnât be a perfect solution but it may encourage some of them to at least bounce back and forth between their main on herod and opposite faction toon on (insert realm)
It wouldnât stop the crowd on herod, but would at least thin it out now and then.
Donât underestimate how much some people want their names; and the difference between them making a toon on the new realms may honestly be that simple as 1-2 more names to take a chance.
Let us know the alliance vs horde population on servers, that is much more helpful.
What does a âCSTâ realm give you that you donât already get with an EST realm? Do you not know how to change your in-game clock to match your system clock? Seriously, I donât know ⌠is this a meme at this point or do people still asking for CST realms really not know?
Theyâre not offering a usable alternative. They should have offered a Herod split server specifically, and given people a week during which they could only switch characters from Herod. That would have given the guilds and communities time to check with their members and make a decision about whether to switch and when.
Not many people are going to tell their guilds, âhey weâre moving to a different server but you canât reserve your name thereâ.
If this works like various new server batches in Vanilla, Herod is the server that survives, and the overflow server will be a ghost town in a year or two.
As it is, few people will move off Herod until they experience a 4 hour queue in phase 2, by which time it will be too late to build healthy new servers.
Would it not have been simpler to lock realms once they had reached your internal caps?
