Or rather they would be, except for the layering.
Apparently they didnât have contingency plans for streamers. Maybe this massive preference for streamer free servers will give them a clue that streamers are a negative, not a positive, influence on the game.
How to get people off of Herod:
-
Announce the creation of a new EST pvp server several days in advance
-
Name this server Ashbringer (Thunderfury is acceptable as well)
-
Lock this server for a day or two so that new characters canât be created on it
-
Offer character transfers from Herod to the new server so people have a chance to keep their names
-
Unlock character creation at some point
-
???
-
Profit
Course, this only helps Herod and completely ignores the other servers which will have a similar problemâŚ
We need an add-on that puts fake characters around us in the cities.
To me, the issue is that everyone wants to play with the people that they played with back in the day. But if everyone from every original EST server is picking Herod, this will never work. Like, for me, I want to be wherever all/most of the old Lightningâs Blade people are going to be. It would be a complete fail to have 1/2 of them on Stalagg and 1/2 of them on Herod. So really, the players need to all agree on a server and all move together. Some old EST servers should stay on Herod and other old EST servers would agree to populate Stalagg instead. That is the only way that I see a true balance without splitting old alliances.
But I also agree that stupid server names will not help either. I personally would never pick âStalaggâ ever. Iâd rather wait in a que to play.
LOL WUT?! And what do you suggest they do when someone does stream on the server, ban them?
Something to do before transfers: Copy the reserved names of players they have on Herod to Ashbringer. Then, allow them to basically delete on Herod, and have a guaranteed reclaim on the new server. Anything abandoned on Herod or unclaimed on Ashbringer is unlocked after the transfer period.
It would probably help if you raised the account-wide cap on character creation so people could actually reserve their names on other servers. Iâm not giving up the names that I have on Herod only to find out that theyâre already taken on another server.
If you are an East Coast player than yes they donât exist
Change server name
You so realize that the âEasternâ servers are physically located in Chicago which is in the Central time zone?
Kaivax, no matter what you say or ask of the people in WoW classic, most will not listen. What will happen on Herod (amongst others), the queues will show up. People will get upset and blame Blizzard for all their troubles. Most people will not move off of Herod because they think they are set for launch day. They will not move to another server because they expect others to do that so they wonât have to. It will be a few days after launch before it occurs to them âHey maybe I should move to another server!â Otherwise all we will see is forums fill up with more hateful posts about Blizzard screwed up and itâs not our fault.
Thatâs not a good indicator for real launch conditions either. By allowing only active subs to reserve names, you have much more accurate numbers. You KNOW they have an active sub and can safely bet that theyâll at least TRY classic on launch. If you let Joe Whoever reserve a name, but they havenât been subbed in 7 years, you have no reasonable way to assume they will actually be playing.
Also, can you imagine the absolute whinging that would happen in the forums/wow communities if you let non-subbed also reserve names? I can see the posts now.
âI pay for this game and my name was probably taken by someone who hasnât payed in 10 years. Wow, Blizz really cares about their customersâ.
If you want to believe that thereâs only one motivation possible for Blizzardâs active-sub condition, go for it. Just donât fall for outrage culture.
Your perspective on the importance of a server name is laughable. The majority of people could care less what text is at the top of their character select screen.
Why would anyone expect any server to be lovked and unavailable?
Has Blizzard ever locked any servers in the past?
seems some faith has been restored in the people, good job blizza
What should we expect for Herod in the future? My friends are reluctant to move off, so will we be forced to move if things get bad enough?
Theyâll never force you to transfer. However youâll be highly incentivized through day long queues. 10,000+ queues means you have to wait for a bare minimum of 10,000 people to log out before you get in. Then if you get disconnected and relog, youâre in the queue again.
When will you understand that people want to be on the biggest server? We have all been on a âdeadâ server and it sucked. If you know a certain amount will be on one server then increase the capacity on that server because we will only want to be on that server. Period. Those who donât want to be on the biggest will go to the rest. It is that simple.
Herod for life! I am still not over the fact I never got Herodâs shoulders back in the day on my hunter. I farmed that place over and over. It nearly never dropped and the two times it did someone else ninjad them. Herod is for real the only name I have an honest connection with and man am I happy the biggest server on classic is Herod.
