No, it was a community poll for all the realms (it included language spoken, etc) so it isn’t 100% accurate but it did have like 20k votes. I found it on reddit classic a few days back.
it basically broke down 50/50 for pvp realms, and 60/40 for pve realms (favoring alliance).
I kinda expect it to be something like that at launch too; the alliance were always more popular in vanilla than they are in retail for pvp.
PVP servers were always more populated. Why be surprised?
Aren’t there more normal realms than pvp ones? Players could always learn to tolerate different communities.
And this is why Blizz isn’t too blame, but players themselves. You chose to feed on this delusion and pile up on just one realm.

Dude, its just 10% of Thalnos with South America player.
Do you really think you won’t find Latin Americans on other servers?
Does it really matter whose fault it is? Will it matter if you are on Herod and the population is so vast that every time you log in there is a multiple hour wait?
It is what it is. Deal with the situation in any way you wish. But assigning fault does nothing.

and now there is a 4th, and you can move if you don’t want longer than expected queue times. problem solved. player created problem (dogpiling) player selectable solution provided (new server).

Regardless of the actual number a server cap is, now that it’s a weekend, Stalagg numbers will climb… and so will Herod’s! This would mean that right before launch, there’ll be a potential of 10 - 15 thousand people in line to get on Herod. Since we are not making 3 characters in 5 minutes and logging off, that line is not moving fast any time soon!
Blizzard will not add more layers because they know come phase 2, they would have dug their own graves. This means that Full now means Full then.
With 10 - 15 thousand people waiting in line and all that hype running through their heads and pretty much no chance of playing that day, many (if not most) will switch to Stalagg. This means that Stalagg will get 7 - 10 thousand people day of launch from those registered in advance alone. In short, Stalagg will become just as full as Herod is now.
Then you’ll have 20% to 50% more users freshly subscribing (or resubscribing) to play Classic. Where will they go? The streamer realm? Pfft… no chance! Their other choices are 2 full realms! Clearly no chance there either.
Blizzard knows this and they’ll be releasing more servers this week. Skip Stalagg and just go to one of those since they’ll fill up quick with late comers, switchers that can’t stand the waits on either of the other 2 servers, and reasonable people that don’t care about nonsense. If the phase 2 implementation goes without a hitch and Herod is stable… switch over. End of story.

Instead of coming to us crying because the server is overpopulated and telling us that we should move, maybe you should be smart and release the breakdown of Alliance players versus Horde players on any given server. Allow us to make an informed decision on how to move our characters. Try that.

Over a week out and most realms are high/full. lol.
You think you want to play Classic, but you really don’t. Trust us. ~Blizzard Devs

My name has already been taken on that server so I will not be moving to that server. I will be staying on Herod.
I wish they would set a second date to release servers so we can get a heads up. Because I’m not moving if I can’t get my name.

with layering in the starter zones, this should be a non issue
after level 10 people will be clamoring for a FREE realm transfer.
If you were SERIOUS about getting players off of Herod you wouldn’t have named the new server Stalagg…
It’s the names. Herod is cool, Stalagg is terrible. Most people didn’t get through Naxx in vanilla, they don’t know what/who Stalagg is. Sounds like a rock, some Dwarf or something…
And no one wants to roll on most of the servers because the names are terrible, second hand, leftovers.
You guys didn’t even use any Bronze dragon names like Soridormi, Alurmi, Penumbrius, Andormu, Coridormi, Erozion, Sa’at, Eternos, Chronormu Nozari, Zephyr , Zidormi, Ziradormi, etc.

100%.
Imagine if, instead of “Stalagg”, they came out and said the new pvp realm was named Leeroy Jenkins, or something. gg

I was thinking about that. They seem to be randomly pulling names out of a hat like they are mindless, joyless employees that couldn’t be bothered to care about the excitement the players feel for the game or be more creative than looking at a list of trivial vanilla NPCs.

If they really cared about that, they would have just allowed anyone who has had an active sub at any time in the past of WoW to name reserve, giving a much better picture of who would play. They had no need to charge for it.

It does seem to be random name selection.
The best pvp name, imho, was BloodSail Buccaneers… and it went to the RP server. Not even the RP PVP server.
Wut? lol.
We were lucky Herod was chosen as a name tbh

If they think this is a problem 1-2 weeks before launch, imagine how bad the problem is going to be AT launch when the players who only want to sub then will be and who dont read the forums

And why would someone want to take the other extreme action?
At this point given what is known, it is more than safe to double the amount of servers. And that number is still less than half of 50…
