Overcrowded Realm Update

at the risk of revealing sub numbers, is there over or under 1M “characters” on Herod?

Will it really hurt to just make one server without a cap limit and see how that turns out?

If you free transfer later down the line when you can’t stand the queues, you’ll still have to pick a new name won’t you? At least I assume that’s how it would work. If you’re coming to a new or old server after it opens there’s a chance a few people will already be playing there and many of the names have probably already been taken.

I agree, the US servers are not very good. Russians got Chromie and we got a bunch of wet noodles from SM :frowning:

Higher server cap > queues

They won’t get ANY names probably. All the names will be taken by then.

I thought it was really nice that Blizzard gave us such a heads up on name reservation initially. We had sufficient time to coordinate which realms we’d initially be heading to and saving our names on. So I’m wondering why more care wasn’t exercised in the launch of Stalagg. We had, what, an hour’s notice before the realm went up?

I spent an extra $15 activating a second account to split strategies for reserving names on Herod and it worked. I got the names I’ve been planning for months because of that. And now you want me to delete those characters and go to Stalagg, where my names are already taken because I didn’t have the courtesy of advanced notice. I feel stuck.

If the problem with Herod specifically is so bad, you should open a new realm to transfers from Herod only. If we can get the same names we have on Herod, I believe many players will be willing to go. But otherwise, I feel that my hand is forced.

my guess is when they saw the “MASSIVE” number of players who chose that realm they went into a panic mode like an Oom heals blowing the wrong CDs to save the tank from an unexpected spike damage instead of dispelling the debuff with the last bit of mana they had.

Yeah this is smart. They should announce ahead of time too.

it’s clear to anyone smart that you should leave Herod if u want to avoid an 8 hour queue. the issues is most are connected to their guilds/friends and the masses are still not leaving Herod for Stalag. The average person needs to have as much information as possible to make the right decision.

I am just popping in to say that this is really awesome communication. You listed the problem, gave the reasoning behind the problem, provided a solution, as well as some background so we could better understand the whole process. I love it! This is the kind of communication that makes me feel Blizz values me as a customer.

Probably what they did in the early days of WoW.

New servers with and/or free realm transfers.

This! Come enjoy the fun that is RPPvP!

My only beef with Blizzard at this point is that they don’t lock the servers before they become “massively overpopulated.”

If you want a guild or friends or family to play on the same realm, you should have agreed to create your characters at roughly the same time. Why would anyone expect a server where early birds reserved some names to continue to be available two weeks later when the game goes live?

Yeah, i doubt it. If you had played MMO’s for even the 2010’s a SINGLE decade; you’d know what happens when one server is perceived as the BIG server and the others not, especially for pvp.

You would have the experience to know what happens to the ‘lesser’ realms over a year or 2 year period. And you’d know what it’s like to be stuck on a dying realm and have to pay to move.

You don’t know any of it though so, i’m going to assume you’ve never played a single MMORPG but WoW and always on a populated server.

U have no life experience in this department judging by your comments

Maybe should’ve listened to your player base prior to name reservations. We told you we needed more servers and you gave us 1 more AFTER the name reservations, just slipped it in barely any notice. Nobody wants to move after they’ve already secured their preferred name.

While people on Medium PvE realms will be level 10, us Herod players will still be in que… and it will be incredible.

As soon as i saw 3 east coast pvp servers, i knew they were continuing to underestimate the demand for wow classic.

Nah just log in early and never log out.

You can just as easily secure your name on a new server. I did on Stalagg. Deal with hours of queues or move, they did it correctly by starting small. Don’t blame them because you incorrectly thought it should be done differently. It absolutely makes sense that they started small and don’t want to make new servers until the others are full.
