Overcrowded Realm Update

How is it not fair? Everyone had the same chance to reserve names when name reservations opened. Everyone on Herod won their name fair and square so why is it so unfair to let us keep them?

No one else is being asked to move by Blizzard only Herod players and it’s actually not fair on US to expect us to do so and lose out in the process.

You can keep your name.

The price to do so will likely be very long queues, though.

You don’t understand either. Even with layering there is a overall server limit and also authentication queue in which was experienced name reservation day. Layering makes less world ping and so server just doesn’t crash from so many in starter zones, the queue thing was a blatant misspeak one their end. I don’t think layering helps with the issue of total server cap

Yet you haven’t increased the name reservation beyond 3 characters so I couldn’t reserve names on the new servers even if I wanted to

I know, but people saying they’ll wait for “the queue to settle” aren’t getting the full picture. Even if the queue do settle after the first weeks, it’s going massively up when the layering is gone.

Those who don’t pick lower pop realms will have to deal with high pop issues. Its your own fault you don’t pick lower even after they warned you. Just keep your name on herod. Everyone knew that was the high pop realm that’s why it was picked. You should’ve planned to do low pop if you wanted to not play high pop. seems like common sense

Depends just how many people leave by phase 2 right, Blizzard expects many, many tourists. I mean, I am sure there will be queues but you do get the benefit of a VERY active community, especially those like me who plan to play extremely long term.

Plus nothing is stopping Blizzard from offering free xfers down the line too if it’s still too much.

Besides, I would honestly be open to moving if I didn’t lose out on anything and I know that goes for a lot of other people too. If big guilds are to move, then a lot of people have to agree to lose their names as it stands and I just don’t see that happening.

Layering doesn’t change the total server population issue.

Choices in Classic have much more impact than the later expansions. The first choice you make is your server. I can respect that some players want to stay on Herod I just hope those that refuse to move to the new realms do not flood the forums with whiny posts in phase 2. If the server has a 3 hour queue you were warned.

Based on name reservations so far, the Herod realm is looking to be massively overpopulated

If only you had put classic server names, like we had before, people could have migrated to servers they were originally from and this could have been avoided…

But NOPE

I released one of my names from Herod to go see if I could make some names on Stalagg. None of the names I had on Herod were available and any other good names I would want to use were taken as well, so back to Herod, grabbed my name back. I don’t want to have to wait in ques, but I also don’t want to have to use character map to make names. I guess I’ll be remoting into my computer from work to start up the que a few hours before I get home after release so that I can play in the evenings.

Ok, I don’t have a character on Herod, until now. I went and created a character on Herod just to show there are probably more players creating characters on Herod. There are 3 full realms and they all give the same warning message about creating a character on a full realm. I am guessing the population on Herod will only increase with time. I am also guessing the population of Whitemane may have exceeded Herod.

What now? Let Whitemane keep their names? It is what it is.

I dont give a hooey what the world is meant for. If they want to make 2k max realms with “Policing” let them, but dont force that on Everyone.

My guild had almost 1000 people before I took a break, so what we are supposed to be on our own server in classic? Get out of here. Thats not nearly enough people.

A good guild, with a couple of Raid Groups, and a couple of Premade Groups, thats a few hundred people Minimum.

a Medium realm today already has more characters on it than even the most crowded realms did back in 2006.

How about this. If you choose the easy way out by choosing a realm with lower pop, when it dies and there’s no one left, you can’t transfer out.

I like it, and add to that a 30 minute queue time for being stupid.
