Outlaw Rogue Theme Disappointing

Anyone else unbelievably disappointed that Outlaw didn’t get a talents/hero talents that leaned more heavily into the pirate/swashbuckler theme?

Like, there could have been so many cool talents like summoning a barrage of cannonballs, having a pirate parrot companion that harasses the enemy etc.

Cannon barrage and Parlay were the best parts of Legion Outlaw but that was pruned away.

Outlaw has also lost CDR on Cloak of Shadows, Acrobatic Strikes, range on run throughs melee finishers, ranged stun BTE, CDR on BTE stun etc.

Outlaw is a shell of its former self introduced from Legion.

More pirate themed stuff is the last thing I want… :x

I’m more disappointed that outlaw is looking terrible and I’m forced to reroll. I could care less about the theme of any class, only care if it hits the APM I like and absolutely pumps.

Outlaw isn’t going to pump as it lost all its major tools.

They can tune the numbers up but too many mechanics are working against the spec right now.

If you like Hillbilly Subtlety and still doing absolute crap damage, then Outlaw is for you.

As for me, I’m so underwhelmed by Outlaw’s build choices that I’m probably going to shelf this as an alt.

No matter how much Blizzard buffs our auto-attack damage or ability damage by a static 10%, it doesn’t mean anything without some form of armor pen.

I will say that I am thankful dispatch now refreshes slice and dice.

Now they just have to use the legion model to reconfigure our talent tree and restore our overall dps without crunching us into small time windows.

I just want outlaw build options that don’t rely on stealth mechanics. I miss legion outlaw where you could just zip around on grappling hook spamming hard hitting dispatches.

Crackshot / stealth builds are fun for some players I’m sure, but the reliance on so many factors to optimize stealth uptime and then your damage is balanced around that to me is ridiculous. And being the only build option is horrible.

Those players gravitate to Sub, no?

Genuinely curious because almost every person who has been pro-bushlaw I check out and most of their timers are Sub.

I actually hate both other specs. For me personally, it is Outlaw or bust with the class.

Wait, do you really enjoy crackshot and ambush in your rotation, or are you “whatever has (correct) APM and pumps”? Just asking because there was a time Outlaw had neither and felt fun to play. E.g., Fan the Hammer rules, and Greenskin’s delivered the same on-press value as Crackshot without the taxes, zero-gain scenario out of stealth. But for whatever reason, pressing Ambush doesn’t feel great to me (probably more like, pressing anything but Ambush feels bad, and just hinging on the Ambush trigger instead is too much anxiety/counting).

I actually liked the KiR/Echoing/ Sinister strike build. depending on how the dungeon is tanked, easy 500k+ in dungeons, and really high boss damage.

I feel like they completely destroyed everything good about outlaw.

It’s no good and needs another complete redesign

Outlaw is just subtlety 2.0 now. Pretty sad considering it had such a unique fantasy in legion

I don’t dislike Outlaw/Sub hybrid Sublaw. That is a call back to the Combat/Sub hybrid specs back then.

The problem is that it suffocates any other build you are trying to do.

Outlaw could use another serious “class fantasy” pass. It should have zero reliance on stealth and stealth-related mechanics.

Which rogues are you looking at? Before prepatch the highest key sub did was a 16 or 17, absolutley nobody is playing that spec in s3/4 since it is criminally undertuned. By far outlaw is the most played spec, and some assa after them.

In regards to the crackshot hate, I get it, but part of outlaws current and frankly only niche is its high apm combined with juggling tons of things at once. The fun part about ace crackshot is using that 0.8 seconds to determine if you procd ace and get to spam BtE or need to figure out if youre going to ghostly strike snipe an ER point or what other builder you’ll need to use. Then you have rolls, ghostly target, blade flurry positioning, container buff issues, bte cd outside of stealth, ar uptime to manage, etc.

The issue is were hardly rewarded for this very involved and harder gameplay loop which can feel bad for dedicated players who care about the spec.

Appreciate but…
None of that sounds fun.

Novel? Sure.
Fun? Eh, only if the payout is there.

And even then, RNG dice rolls every 60 seconds on whether or not you proc out of stealth…

Agreed.

It simply is gimped without Shadow Dance to be honest trying to use Crackshot. Crackshot is the default because ghostly strike cap stones, KIR and Greenskin wickers are all under powered.

Crackshot is default because it explicitly caters to specific talents in order for it to work. Greenskins got nerfed because it made Fan the Hammer ridiculous, and Ghostly Strike was far superior when it ignored armor.
