I wouldn’t call the tanks the same as they play quite differently. The only thing they have in common is hold aggro, use cooldowns as needed. A Brewmaster is night and day different both in playstyle and look from a Vengeance Demonhunter Or a Prot Pally.
I dont know… Gnome girl tanks are pretty darn cute and if eboys as you call them are looking for bad a@# tanks then drenai paladins are some pretty beefed up ol boys.
It’s an interesting concept that blizzard could theoretically pull off by doing 4th specs but it doesn’t seem like it is something they think is worth the time or effort.
You’re comparing games where playing specific champions accords to certain roles to a game where your race and transmog are variables in their own right across all the different classes.
WoW has “cute” races already that can tank, with all sorts of non-tank-looking transmog options. It has plenty of dark, broody looking options for healers to wear.
Sure, people can start talking about cool class ideas and fun mechanics, but new class mechanics are not going to bring in some tide of a normally less-present demographic of players.
The tank shortage has an obvious reason, which is that tanks have a much higher pressure role than the other roles. They are the inherent “leader” of a group when you do M+, controlling the pathing decisions and when to pull and what to pull. And while they’re less of a “leader” in the raid context, the pressure balances out to still be higher than other roles on average because in a raid, they’re just 1 of 2 tanks and more rides on their ability than on a single dps or healer.
lol, no, you drew your main point from the stuff about girls playing “cute characters” from Riot, and your OP focuses on heroes of the storm and overwatch.
Your points about ffxiv and ESO had even less ground when everyone pointed out you could easily make “dark” or “non goody-two-shoes” looking characters for healers in this game.
All you’ve really been left with in this thread is, “I can think of some nifty mechanic they could try for certain roles.” Okay. That’s a topic that appears elsewhere too, not dressed up in the silly attempt of, “and if you do this, it’ll attract more players outside your normal demographic.”
