Curious to hear from others, what games have made you or will make you drop WoW, temporarily or for good. Or another game you play along side of WoW.
I’ve played since vanilla, but aside from WoW. I dabbled in Guild Wars for 5 minutes. Played City of Heroes which I liked a lot, wish there was another legit super hero MMO. I tried SWG briefly, wasn’t bad but didn’t keep me from sticking with WoW. Always ended up going back to WoW eventually.
As far as console games, I played them often in WoWs earlier years when I was younger. At 41 now I’m not the console gamer I used to be, but doesn’t mean I’ll never get into them again. Currently I play Marvel Puzzle Quest on my phone and WoW. Usually when I get sick of WoW I play a ton of Heroes of Might and Magic 3 still hej, game never wears off for me.
Surprisingly I never tried ESO even know I’ve loved and played all the games. I’ll probably have to check it out. Haven’t heard about Cyber Punk but I’ll see what that’s about.
I play 7 days to die cause shooting zombies in the face is oddly satisfying. I never “dropped” wow for it though. Some days I feel like murdering zombies, some days I feel like murdering bears for their livers.
Oof the list is rather long. In alphabetical order.
Battlefield V
Black Desert Online
Cities: Skylines
Divinity: Original Sin 2
Dungeons 3
Guild Wars2
Oxygen Not Included
Warhammer 40k - Relics
Witcher 3
I’ve started to play FFXIV a lot since BfA started back up with a lot of role/class restrictions.
If things continue with covenants in a restrictive manner - then I’ll likely make the move to FFXIV more permanently since they go in the complete opposite direction.
I think Legion was an ok place - but still could have been better. BfA was incredibly frustrating and has been pushing me away.
What really turned me off early on was the clear focus on instanced PvP over RvR. The rewards were way better and it was far more efficient to just chain queue for battlegrounds (or whatever the WO term was) than it was to actually do RvR.
I had a blast doing RvR even with all the buginess of my squig never listening to me but as I leveled up there were fewer and fewer people doing it.
Bfa got me to try ff14, and tbh thats where i spend most of my time at now. Im just surprised how little fun i was havin ingame wow and why i been flustered. Also get bard ^^ tho i miss my pets.
I forgot about Borderlands, never actually played through any of them but wanted to.
I actually really wanted to get into Divinity 2. However the way the camera system works on PC, I got bad wrist pain rotating the darn thing constantly. I tried to Google for work around but nothing seemed to help and I stopped playing it. Too bad though as that’s one type of RPG I like a lot. Maybe I should have tried a console version instead of PC who knows.
I tried to jump into FFO, spent like a hour customizing the heck out of my character. Then when trying to actually get into the game by picking a server, it wouldn’t let into any server I tried. I had set up an account and everything also. I just got frustrated and moved on, but not sure what the issue was.
I’ve been playing Ori and the Will of the Wisps. After finishing that, Langrisser I & II. Hat in Time, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, and Frostpunk. Sooo much Frostpunk. Frostpunk is actually what inspired me to make my Mag’har Shaman. Had to live that Frostwolf vibe.
I step away from WoW from time to time in small bursts to enjoy and explore other games. Most recently that’s been Ori & the Will o’ the Wisps, and Doom Eternal. (Talk about very different themes.)
Borderlands could’ve been an AMAZING game… I was hooked for a hot minute but you quickly realize that it was more efficient to loot chests for gear than it was to kill bosses. The last week I played before deciding to quit, all I was doing was running around in a circle right outside of one of the towns looting like 4 chests over and over and never going out to actually kill things.
