Other games that made you drop WoW

Drop, none but there are others that share time with it. I played Aion (great PvP based MMO), a couple weeks of Diablo III each new season and currently The Division 2.

Have yet to run into anything like that. The closest I guess would’ve been The Last of Us (PS4 remaster) a few years back that I couldn’t put down for the week I was playing it.

I don’t really play anything multiplayer outside of WoW. I used to do WCIII matches over a decade ago but that’s about it. “MMO” or “multiplayer” on its own holds little value to me, the franchise/universe/single player side of a game has to be compelling for the multiplayer side to be of any interest.

WoW made me drop WoW once. Warlords of Draenor was a thing.

Back when we had our first child, I quickly realized I could not juggle a baby and a dungeon group so I needed a solo player game that would let me just stand up and immediately walk over to a child that was calling for me. Bioware games such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age filled this niche. I actually played Dragon Age first because I could pick a dwarf as a main character!

The controversial ending to the Mass Effect franchise is well-documented. Great trilogy for the most part, but the ending basically killed the replayability for me. It doesn’t bother some people so YMMV. (I’m also the type that doesn’t like prequels because you already know how it’s going to end anyway.) If Dragon Age’s next game lets me continue playing as a dwarf, then I’ll pick it up.

Heroes of the Storm really scratches my “I just need a quick game, one that I can pause immediately, too” itch. Cassia with the Wonder Woman skin is the BEST ONE. =D

People still play Heroes of the Storm? I thought it was nearly deserted.

At least for casual play, queues are always under a min.

Hmm well my story is somewhat interesting as a nerd. Last time I played wow was during catacylsm. I was about 12 or 13 ( 22 now) I stopped playing it as I developed an addiction to it. I battled with depression and anxiety and at that time I lived in a place I hated and went to a school I equally hated. I stopped playing that then went to LOTRO as my parents didnt want to continue paying for a sub. ( the three month time cards). After that I started playing ME and DA and wanted more so I picked up SWTOR I’ve been playing that on and off for years. I stopped after the last expansion in the fall. Decided I’d give WoW a try again as I remembered how much I enjoyed it when I was younger. I also never made it to any expansions when I was younger so want to see what all the fuss is about. so in short Lotro made me drop WoW as it was free

It’s been a while since I’ve played it, but my interest is back after reading about their Zeus build (i.e. new skins for Cassia):

I don’t really drop wow but the lack of tier class gear next expansion might.

Swtor and Fallout that are two that come to mind.

Baldurs Gate 3 when it comes out certainly.

Mass Effect

Since they cancelled it, even after a very good xpac, I’ve been in WoW since.

Doom eternal will be an exception to that.

Been playing FF14 while waiting on Shadowlands.

DOOM Eternal has made me stop playing that and focus solely on Ripping and Tearing and tearing and ripping. The only thing that would make this better would be if I could get an unholy choir to sing “Blood and Guts and Guts and Blood” to me while I tear my way through demons.
pauses and thinks.
Loads youtube on second monitor and sets video to loop.

The past 3 months, I’ve been playing Swtor, Borderlands 3, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In a few weeks, FF VII Remake releases. That’s where I’ll spend most of my time.

Up till the end of MoP, I kept my WoW sub year-round. Now, I come and go (subbed for a month to get classes up to speed for SL, if I play). For whatever reason, I just don’t get consumed by the game like I used to.

I’m taking you like it? I’ve been thinking about picking it up, but it didn’t seem, at least from the trailers, all that different from the one before it. I might just wait till it’s on sale…

I loved Borderlands. Just finished doing about all I could there, until more DLC releases. Been running an Iron Bear Build on Moze to satisfy the lack of Tinker in WoW lol

Ha I am rolling Iron Bear as well. Bottomless mags spec only lvl 26 just landed @ Eden6.

They managed to make the combat pace even more intense. You also have to play a game of hyper-speed chess to make the right moves and kill the right enemies and manage your ammo resources much more intensely.

I had one fight that felt like an eternity, but was actually only about 5, maybe six minutes but I was so focused I had to stop and change out of sweat-soaked clothes and actually work on forcing my eyes to refocus. (The fight at the ARC center before rescuing redacted and plugging his remains into the redacted so that you can locate the redacted and redacted. Then you get make the decision to redacted. To which redacted says “You cannot just blow a hole in redacted” and while the Doomslayer doesn’t say anything you can just hear him reply back “YoU cAnNoT jUsT bLoW a HoLe iNredacted stop it with the spoilers you fool!

The cut-scenes at the end of major engagements are annoying as heck. I miss Doom 2016’s simple air-horn alert that the next door had opened.

The visuals and background scenes are incredible.

Running through it the first time on Ultra Violence, and it’s a blast.
