Origins of the Nightwarrior and his Husband (Spoilers)

Say it louder for the people in the back! This is such a slap in the face.

Priestess of the Moon are a hybrid class. In don’t see the problem. Both Shamans abs Druids have the ability to be both melee and ranged.

It’s a big issue. The classes feel bland when they are all the same across races. It really sucks.

From what it sounds like this Dark God made its intent fairly clear in its manner of warfare, whereas the Banshee Queens motives aren’t plain.

Hence it is more difficult to rally against.

We have no frame of reference for the scale of power of the Old God on Fyzandi. It could’ve been as powerful as Y’shaarj, or as weak as Xal’atath. It could’ve been the type to employ brute force and overwhelming numbers like C’thun, or be more subtle and hidden like N’Zoth. There’s a lot we don’t know about it, so a Night Warrior (and his 24 best friends) taking down an Old God isn’t necessarily a proper reflection of Tyrande’s power as Night Warrior.

Also keep in mind the Old God which landed on Fyzandi didn’t exactly have eons undisturbed to build up it’s power, like the many Old Gods on Azeroth had.

Now this is an excellent point too.

Zeus got a woman pregnant by turning into a shower of coins dude lol cmon stop with the realist brain this is a magical universe

IMO Elune reshaped the Trolls into something more like her.

If you notice, Malorne, Winter Queen, and Cenarius all have the same horn shape. And the Winter Queen created Ardenweald, which is tied to the Night Warrior and is also tied to the Dream. How is something CREATED BY the Winter Queen in the Shadowlands inherently tied to a power granted by Elune and the Emerald Dream unless the Winter Queen has a tie to both?

I think Winter Queen is Elune’s firstborn daughter that was kidnapped from the Dream like Persephone was kidnapped from Demeter by Hades. And the Night Warrior is the WoW equivalent to how Demeter raged upon the earth and Hekate offered to keep Persephone company in the underworld.

Exactly. I hate when people try to apply Science Brain to a fantasy universe with deities and supernatural beings.

I like this idea, though I’m not sure how it works in practice. Who would’ve kidnapped the Winter Queen from the Emerald Dream? Either way, it’s a nice touch to Greek mythology, which has parallels with Night Elf spirituality.

Why the Jailer, of course :stuck_out_tongue:

We know the Archon Kyrestia was a mortal soul via dungeon dialogue, and we know Sire Denathrius is “first blooded”, which implies he was turned into what he is, and “once a Lord of Dread” according to the Accuser, so it could be the Jailer used a Dreadlord soul.

Thus, maybe he got greedy and wanted a tie to Life Powers and stole the Queen from the Dream.

Yeah no, they aren’t Paladin sorry.

If we get them then like in WC3 and nothing else, thank you very much.
There was enough “human potential”.

What I’m saying is that we already have our own version of Paladins. We don’t need to be given regular human paladins that would only serve to taint our lore.
I’ve always wanted to get a proper Priestess of the Moon class instead of Paladins.
That’s why I hate the idea of regular Paladins for NE because it would toss away all the importance and background of a well stablished lore.
Priestesses of the Moon are a High cast of priestesses that are trained in combat just like regular human Paladins came from Priests.
We can pretty much bet Blizzard won’t create another elven only class so the idea of a PotM is out of the picture so the alternative would be just plain Paladins that would inevitably end up as just a subgroup of the Silver Hand.

So the only viable solution is either get a full PotM class or get Paladins saying that they’re in fact our own PotM that by gameplay mechanics are forced into Paladins.

The key aspect being what lore they would choose to go with. Because that could make it or break it for Night Elves.

See, now I’m just imagining what the Winter Queen would’ve looked like if she’d been in the Emerald Dream and never in Ardenweald. It’d be a pretty tragic backstory for her if this was the case, and I think I’d like that, especially if it’s used to develop her as a stronger individual. The idea of overcoming abduction and what was no doubt imprisonment to create an afterlife that served such an amazing and crucial purpose would speak volumes about the kind of person the Winter Queen is.

A paladin is just a warrior priest. All Kaldorei priests are highly efficient warriors. Tyrande fight in full mail armor in WotA, and like paladins was able to channel the light into her weapons. Priestess of the Moon are just more versatile the basic paladin.

THIS!

I think that the class should be a melee/ranged/caster class. Obviously a caster healer but the ranged spec sound also have some caster spells along with a bow.

No you don’t. The Moonpriestesses are not Paladins. Or are you next gona claim Balance Druids are Paladins as well? Starfall.

I support this 100%, and yes I know blizzard is lazy. But be honest a Paladin wouldn’t be a replacement.

And a balance druid is just?

And she now wears Plate as all other PotM.

From her short story “Seeds of Faith”:

"Tyrande opened the door, and a beam of light yawned across the dark floorboards. The rooms were deserted. She surmised that Malfurion was still at the enclave, and began to pack for the perilous journey ahead. It didn’t take long for Tyrande to exchange her temple robes for her plate armor, which resembled that of a Sentinel. She retained only her simple crescent moon circlet as a symbol of her station.

Shifting through a large trunk, Tyrande removed her bow and quiver, then lifted out her beautifully crafted moonglaive. The dim light rippled over the weapon’s three blades as she untied its coverings, and she could sense that all of the blessings it had received were as strong as ever. If Morthis’s reports were correct, she would need them—along with every possible advantage—in order to succeed".

Like she did in WC3, finally again.
I hated Tyrande in her “nightgown” so much .

I see you’re going to ignore that Balance Druids are a lot closer to the actual Moonpriestesses abilities, same for hunters. Well ok.

And I would give up all moon related abillities with my druid because for me it doesnt make sense.
I always thought Balance druid should be the Offensive Druid but still using Nature related spells.
Imagine Grass-type pokemos using Vine Whipe and Razor Leaves as an example.
I’d love it if we get the Warlock/DH treatment where they removed Metamorphosis so DH can get it back.

A priestess of the moon is a priest, hunter, paladin mix, just like tidesages are a shaman, mage, priest mix. So sure they aren’t one on one with human paladins but you could come close to a Potm feel by using any of these 3 classes with the accurate glyphs, mounts and transmogs, just like how it’s impossible to play a tidesage but you can approach it from those three angles.

But they essentially are in the lore based on what a paladin is.

A druid. Blizz added that flavor in for the game play but lore wise druids are far more nature based. I’ve always said that since of the druid abilities should go to the NE priests.

They should really give us glyphs so that we can alter our spell appearances. I’d trade starfall for hurricane in a heartbeat.

Yeah that’s true and that’s what I do with my NE Priestess where I forget about the name of the spells and just imagine I’m a normal NE priest.
But with Paladins they would be coming with a lore backing them up and I play for lore before anything else. So if the lore is iffy then it would be upseting for me to deal with it.

I see… moon related abilities don’t make sense, but a Paladin is somehow closer to a Moonpirest in your view. I mean your example is really describing what you want with a Paladin, mixing not fitting things.
Not really convincing I have to say.

Nope nothing from a Paladin. Did you ever play WC3? Balance Druid.

No, they never were. oO

Yes they are nature based. But their abilities are way closer to a Moonpirest. Starfall.
It’s nothing like a Paladin.
Sounds like a long way to even get there where you are. Strange form Night Elven fans.

Edit: And a last thing playing a Paladin as “Moonpriest” in a Paladin set… just no.

I’m talking about them with Druids. Druids already have their domain with Nature. Let the Priestesses have theirs with Moon Magic.
And yes it fits a Paladin creteria because that moon magic is given by our Highest Deity making it Holy/Divine and that’s what a Paladin uses at its core.
So you have with our Sisterhood of Elune the following:
Priest, Warrior, Plate, Divine Magic, Weapons and Hand to Hand Combat and Mounts.
Yeah, they are Paladins so we don’t need some weird out of nowhere lore to back them up or have them as something new they just learned.
